I wouldn't even give this place a 1 star and thats sad because we have been waiting so long to eat out due to Corona that we were just excited and thankful to be going out. When we got there, they completely ignored us for over 15 minutes even after I came and informed them we were here. I'm expecting and very obvious and had my other 2 children with us. When they came, the waitress kept saying no to things we asked to order but I don't believe she knew English well. She took the order after some time and forgot to give straws (it happens) she never checked on our table once. I went up to get straws and asked for more chips at the bar while we waited a long time for our food. By the time she brought the food out, it was very cold. She instantly left after we informed her that they forgot the corn shells to go with the fajitas and my fiance asked for another drink, she NEVER came back for the shells or drink. I had to ask 2 other waitresses for assistance throughout the night afterwards in which the one waitress was right on the tortillas (thank you). We waited patiently for the drink and still never got it.. we asked a waitress at a near by table if she could please get us the drink. When she brought it, it had BBQ or some sauce all over the Corona that went in the margarita. After my fiance brought it to her attention, she pulled the Corona out which spilled all over him and his food, she was apologetic at least but why she didn't take the whole drink were not sure. She just left the rest on the table after spilling it and never came back. It ended up being a horrible experience. After we decided we were going to leave and asked the waitress (who was not ours) to take the drink off the bill, she kindly after some short time told us that our bill would be covered (even though we couldn't really eat the food because it was cold and had been sitting out before we got it) the waitress we originally had FINALLY came back but with a bill (even though we asked her for the food and drink waaay before that - that was kind of rude). we left. Sadly, it looked to be a good place and who doesn't like Mexican food? But it was horrible and seriously, seriously do...

Most of the Mexican food is good at El Maguey. But the chicken tacos 🌮 are terribly dry. Even with any taco sauce. So gross. And at $11 to $15 bucks on the lunch menu.. that is a bit high priced for lunch. The beans and flavored rice was tasty not dry. The other food a week ago was the Chimichangas. The lettuce inside is wilted and wet. Not to my liking that's for sure. And it was way too much stuff. It made me sick the rest of the day omg!!! I actually did not feel well after eating the chimichangas. Half hour later it was not agreeing with. I will not come here again. I think I am done with Mexican food altogether. The Mexican food is not worth what they charge. The quality of the food is mediocre at best.. the chicken tacos were as dry as the Sahara dessert 🏜. Sorry to say this but Taco Bell tastes much better then El Maguey. I give 1 star out of 5 stars in customer service and quality of the food. I'm surprised there aren't more negative reviews on their website. The owners probably use family and friends to write positive reviews. The service was extremely slow that day, especially last Wednesday, September 28, 2023. Took my whole ½ hour lunch....

I've rated this place before. but we all know how things change. Usually for down thumb. Well this place is still ALWAYS Up Thumb! I am not Hispanic. But White. Ya think that matters there? Nope. Have had the door held open for me by patrons and have a special waitress that knows me and i get my Margarita and Shot of Tequila the second i walk in the door. My designated table is by the jukebox. MY SPOT. think they actually keep it clear for me. LOL. great food... good drinks and great staff and patrons. What more could you ask for? By the way...my tab with drinks is usually less then 25 bucks...I leave a 10 buck tip...ya know why? anything i ask for any way i want it I GET it and always GOOD! Think about it for a second...is it worth it? Wont answer that question as we all know how many times we went somplace and paid the big bucks to get a meal we tossed after the...

It was ok. The chips reminded me of a Dorito without the seasoning. The chicken inside the quesadilla was a little hard in some spots (like overcooked). He did not like the chimichanga at all. It was loaded with beans and super wet inside then smothered in a tomato sauce he didn't care for. The rice was good. Portions were good. Service was good. They had people singing live for Friday night but had the speakers way too loud and the sound was really off. Place wasn't super clean. I guess it's what we expected for a Pontiac restaurant but we'd prefer a different Mexican restaurant in the area next time.

I ate here 2 days in a row and both times were great. The first time was takeout and the second was done in. The food comes out in about 5 minutes and has good size portions. The prices are great. It has great flavor and it has a nice sting of spiciness to it. This place also has the perfect Mexican restaurant atmosphere right down to the music.

I didn't think it was bad, but the wife wanted to go one star, no vegetarian options. Lard in the beans, bummer. But my individual tacos were a deal, like $2.50 to $3 ea and pretty tasty. And she made me a pretty strong house margarita four bucks. Not bad middle of the road tonight.
