China Garden — Restaurant in Poplar Bluff

I ordered thru door dash, and this has absolutely nothing to do with door dash everything was good on that end of things. My order was sweet and sour chicken, pon pon chicken, crab ragoon, and pansit noodles. The chicken from both orders was cold and soggy instead of being golden brown it had a white pale color and it was freezing. The same with the crab ragoon, and on top of that the sealed bag had about a cup full of liquid in it. It was NOT cooked properly. I contacted the restaurant and the woman that answered tried to blame door dash saying the order was made fresh. I absolutely will not be eating here again. I know stuff happens, and I'm a reasonable person and I figured a refund was way more than reasonable here. The way it was handled was not professional at all and was just blame shifting. Cold, soggy, floppy chicken that is somehow door dashes fault is just laughable. If I could give them less than a one star...

I find it difficult to rate restaurants in my own town, because I wonder if I'm somewhat biased. I've been going to China Garden since I was a little girl, so I've grown up "knowing" this was the taste of "Chinese" food. As I've grown up and eaten a lot of Chinese food in cities I've traveled through, I have realized that China Garden is actually very unique in their flavor and recipes. This isn't a bad thing. Their food is GREAT. However, if you are looking for normal run-of-the mill Chinese that you would get from any city take out joint, this isn't it. I've never quite found another Chinese restaurant that had the same flavors as China Garden. For me, that makes them very valuable because where else could I go when I'm craving this exact taste? Service is always great as well. This place can get crazy busy, and the wait staff bust their tail ends getting everyone served in a timely manner. Five Stars...

We've noticed the number of vehicles in the parking lot has gotten smaller over the past year. We thought it might be due to covid. Wrong!! The last time we were there, the quality of food was less than what we remembered. We were there this evening around 6:45. The stuffed mushrooms were dry and stuck to the pan. There were 3 chicken wings and they were dry. The zucchini was under cooked and tough. All chicken items were cold and under cooked. The only hot item was the sweet and sour sauce. As I paid the bill, I was asked how the meal was. I told her how bad the food was and she apologized. She said they were closing early so they shut off the heat to the buffet at 6. Didn't tell us that as we came in. If they had told us, we would have gone somewhere else so we could have had a hot meal. We will...
