My first time coming here was amazing, my wife had the pork and cheese papusas. They were so fresh, the masa wasn’t too thick, they were “melt in your mouth” lol. So good I had to go back the same day to get my own.
Maybe a week later I returned to get the same thing, only to be disappointed that I had to wait 30 more minutes than they said it would take to get them and when I got them they were lukewarm, and the masa wasn’t too way too thick. The first time they were fall apart tender, this time I could probably throw them across the room and it would still be intact.
Fast forward to this past Tuesday, I wanted to try their taco Tuesday menu out. I called to order carnitas and Al pastor, the lady told me that that wasn’t part of the special, that it was only carne asada, chicken and ground beef. So I just ordered three carne asada and three chicken.
When I get to the restaurant there’s a sign that has those exact tacos that I wanted listed on the special, so I go inside and inform the two young ladies that there’s a sign that says different than what they told me. They just say some things in Spanish to each other and continue to charge me for the carne and chicken. Never did they apologize for the mix up or try to give me what I originally wanted. But nonetheless I paid for my food and still left a little tip. Hopefully the food will suffice.
Wrong! The carne asada was chewy af, my wife might have ate one chicken taco. Again the corn tortilla was too thick and dry. They gave me the smallest bag of chips that were super cold and didn’t even attempt to fill the salsa past half way for the chips smh and they don’t have white sauce lol. I’m good off of this place. Maybe they cater to their Hispanic customers more but I won’t go into that too much.
La Parilla is a little further down, never had these problems over there. Much...
Read moreNope! Stopped in, and regretted it!! We were not greeted. We waited a very long time for a server. THE SERVICE SUCKS. This is a common review complaint. Finally, a waitress arrived. She did NOT speak English. I do not speak Spanish. Ordering was a nightmare. This was reflected when we got our food. It was NOT anything that we tried to order. We were on a time crunch, so did not attempt to re-order, or send back. Not sure it would have mattered anyways. No one came to see how things were. We just decided to go ahead and eat. It was not busy. In the meantime, a table of four young Hispanic men came in, and sat at the next table. The waitress was beyond attentive!!! In fact, she barely left their table. Catering to their every whim, and blatantly flirting. It was then we noticed she was wearing an ankle monitor. Cool, every one deserve a chance. But, she was dressed like a women on a street corner, rather than a waitress. Watching her, with the four men, she was also acting like one!! We had to get up and go find our bill (for food we didn't order/want), when we had observed several other tables, were given theirs. The whole time we were there, they had some kind of construction happening. LOUD hammering, drilling, banging and just unpleasant very loud noise. The food was just OK. Not good, not bad. It was cold. So, that may not have helped my opinion. No matter how good the food could have been, it doesn't matter if the service is seriously BAD!!! Go somewhere else, to spend your hard...
Read moreGreat food at pretty solid prices! Came here with a friend on a mission to get some nice tacos, and we completed that mission here. I got an Al pastor taco, a chicken tostada, and rice and beans, and it was all great. I’m a tough critic of rice, and I loved this one, although I’ve had better Mexican rice (nothing wrong with it though!). The tortillas were handmade, but a little too thick and doughy - some bites you end up just tasting the tortilla at the end. The chips and salsa at the beginning: the chips were not made fresh there, you could tell they were from a bag, and the salsa was lacking a bit; no spice, quite watery, mostly tomato flavor. But they do have a salsa bar, which we discovered had some other excellent salsas - especially the green one!! Their green salsa is awesome. I also got an horchata, which, I don’t think I understand what a great horchata is, but this one (like most others I’ve had) tasted just like Cinnamon Toast Crunch milk. The tostada was amazing. It was my first tostada, and I don’t know much about them, so I don’t know if this one was super legit or quality or authentic or anything, but it tasted great (even though it was a little bit cold). The environment was okay, but they have two big TVs in the back playing Spanish music videos very loudly, and much of it was inappropriate, so that was a bit disappointing. Overall, I would come back again, though. Service was also very good and fast! I...
