So just wanted to share how this place doesn’t value customers. My family and I use to go to Pho 79 until about 3 years ago when a friend said try 83. So today is my birthday and even tho we just ate here 2 days ago I wanted to get take out again. Today I decided to try something different and get pho with shrimp, scallops, and fish meatballs. Now I don’t eat scallops or fish meatballs so I ask can I get just shrimp in place of the other things. Sure I was told. So my fiancé gets home with the order and to my surprise there are just 6 lil shrimp. Hmm so this pho typically comes with 2 other meats. So I call to see if they just forgot that I wanted to replace the other meats. Nope they remembered but they don’t really accommodate not getting the other things. Which is not right since this pho is more than the others. I ask can they just give me a credit towards another meal. I was told No but I can bring this meal back and get a P1 that I normally order. So I ask are you going to give this to someone else? Nope we will just throw it away but at least we got it back from you and will replace it with another. So what’s the difference of just giving me half the credit towards the next meal? You wouldn’t be giving me a whole meal. Nope can’t do that because we gotta get that one back. So my fiancé who is already starting to eat his meal would have to stop his meal to drive back and exchange mine. Of course he is saying he doesn’t mind because of course it’s my birthday but I don’t want him to do that. I’m just surprised that a place that we frequent so often and literally just ate dinner here 2 days ago would rather inconvenience a customer to throw away a meal then to give me half credit towards my next order. And let’s be real the pho is typically what $11 bucks so a $5 credit! In the climate of a pandemic you would think a business would want to keep customers and the referrals! I guess we’ll be finding another place to frequent for our favorite Pho meal! My friend already told me a new place on Rt 17 is way better. Guess we will have to check it out! I’m very disappointed in the customer service here. As an NP, I know customer service, compassion, safety, and communication as the most important factors in any encounter. I can no longer support a company that treats it’s loyal customers this way. My private practice will be opening just a few minutes away which is such a disappointment for lunch options for me and my staff....

Upon walking in, the restaurant was clean and it had a good amount of seating. There was an older gentleman that greeted us and we were allowed to choose our own seating. The customer service was outstanding here. The older gentleman was so friendly and very attentive. He happily gave us time to look over the menu and came as soon as he saw us put our menus down to place our order. He delivered our food with such pride and a huge smile on his face, I cannot express how lovely it was to be taken care of by someone so kind and happy. He truly put a smile on my face!
The broth is amazing, they had a well made chili oil on the table, and all the veggies and herbs that came with the pho were fresh and tasty! It was a nice sized portion, even though it was a small I was definitely satisfied! The appetizers were fresh, and the crab rangoons were so good. It wasn't just cream cheese, there were definitely extra ingredients to give it a different flavor and we loved it! The rocket shrimps were nice too, my husband thought it was a little too much breading, but the flavor was on point.
My husband enjoyed his vermicelli dish, there were lots of veggies and the sauce that came with it was awesome. I highly recommend this place to try out! I've been looking for a really good pho restaurant since moving to VA from HI - and this place...
Read moreWhen my co-worker raved so much about this wonderful Pho place, I knew I had to check them out. Located at the Shoppes at Oyster Point next to the VA ABC store, Pho83 has the tastiest pho I've ever had within the Hampton Roads area! Most of the time, the broth is so flavorful! I can tell they boiled the ingredients for a long time to make such a tasty broth. Once in a while, usually on the weekdays, it's a bit watered down.
This review is for take-out orders. We usually order the (P9) Pho with thin-sliced flank, fatty beef brisket and eye round steak. Most of the time, they will ask if you want the flank steak raw or cooked. I like it raw, so that it can cook in the very hot broth. The flank is a bit chewy sometimes when you get it already cooked. We also ordered the (S5) Chicken Banh Mi sandwich without the jalapenos. Their menu states they put the jalapenos on the side, but they have placed it inside the sandwich when we forgot to tell them not to include them at all. I wasn't a fan of the soft rolls. I ordered them two separate times to see if it was a fluke. The sliced meat(s) in the rolls were a bit too tough.
If you order take-out, they do add an extra charge ($0.50+), which is typical at other Vietnamese Pho restaurants.
Hopefully, they can expand and open a place in VB or...
