Arrived at 4pm, ordered a shaggy dog and mackerel nigiri at 4:15 and come 5:40 they still have not arrived. Most of the food we ordered was completely incorrect, not the servers fault, but the kitchen staff. This was a very frustrating experience because four other tables arrived and left and we still did not get our food. They have flies, one landed in my son's drink. He had to ask for a new drink after the fly drink was removed, and ended up getting it to go instead ten minutes later (so fly in drink, then waited ten mins for replacement). The menu is incorrectly labeled, they have a section for Buns like Bao Buns, but the "crab bun" was a WHOLE softshell crab stuffed with cold imitation crab. No buns involved. The volcano roll states it has baked scallops but we received a roll with completely raw scallops on top. We eat raw scallops so that's not the issue, the issue is that's not what we ordered. It was almost $10 for a small side of white rice and two fried eggs, which I have never experienced before. The shaggy dog I ordered was given to another table on accident apparently which is fine, but when we asked about it over an hour later we were told it was on the way right now, but it never came. Our handrolls all came as rolls, some of our sashimi came out as nigiri, again this is not the servers fault, we saw her ringing it in correctly and she always double checked what we wanted and repeated our order back.
If I could give this restaurant negative stars I absolutely would.
I don't think this review is harsh, my husband is a very well known head sushi chef in Houston (he's been in magazines and on tv for his omakase) and I have worked in restaurants my entire life as my family had several so we really tried to give credit for the fact that this is a small town sushi restaurant so we of course did not hold it to the standards of what we are used to in the city, but even for a small town sushi restaurant this was a first time experience. We try sushi restaurants every chance we get and there are some decent ones in small towns. Obviously...
Read moreNot sure what has happened here, we have not visited in a long time but it wasn’t what we remembered it to be. We arrived at 5:00 pm on Saturday, two other tables in the bar side of the restaurant were occupied. Sat at the bar between two spots that were dirty, food plates with food and drinks left behind. There were 4 staff sitting and standing in the host area, a few standing behind the sushi station. Bar top was dirty, so I get napkins and wipe it down where we chose to sit. Young man came to take drink order, got our drinks quickly. The plates of food to our right were picked up. As we sat there we heard the to go area talking about how one of the servers gave the wrong credit cards back to wrong customers. Behind us a server dropped a full glass of water on the floor while delivering to a table. Behind the bar, two prescription bottles were on the rack in clear view. Flies, kept coming around lighting on dirty food plates to our left. Many walked pass no one bothered to pick it up and eventually we had to ask for them to picked up. They did promptly. We ordered, two entrees and a sushi roll. Our son’s dinner was delivered, but never got the sushi roll. We asked about it and the young man said he forgot to put it in the system, we told him to take it off the bill. Our food did not come until our son had finished his meal. The young man was very apologetic and removed our dinner from the bill, we tipped him based off what the entire bill would have been. I’m just not sure what has changed here, but I hope they fix it. We will try it again, maybe they had...
Read moreLove sushi, but lately Sake has been really horrible with their services. Two weeks ago my boyfriend and I ordered take-out. When I arrived told the host my name and that I have a pick-up order. She kept looking and then asked the young lady who was at the cash register about my order. They informed me that they've given my order to the wrong customer. I was really upset because I had to wait 15 minutes for my order. When my order should've been ready once I arrive for the pick-up.
Last week, my boyfriend and I wanted sushi again. Called in for our order they said it'll be 35 minutes. Once we arrived... my boyfriend said he'll go inside and pick-up our take out order. He walked in told the host that it's under my name. he saw the bag with my name on it. He told the young lady that the bag is on the counter. She told my boyfriend that it wasn't. How are the employee to tell him that it's not our order when my name is written on the bag!?!?! He was really upset because the employee didn't even bother to double check. This is the worst service we've ever had. We're not coming back to Sake anymore due to the service. We'll just Go back Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar they've always been great with...
