Books-A-Million — Local services in Port Charlotte

I walked in the store, and no employees were working in the store itself; all of them were at the register (hope they have cameras!). At that point, many customers were in line to make their purchase. I was there to purchase a Mother Goose book. As everyone knows, this store is as big as a warehouse. So first it took forever just to find the children's section. I scoured the whole section looking for the book to no avail. So I made my way to the front of the store where every associate was goofing off. Maybe the rush had just ended, and they were taking a well-deserved break. I don't know. One of them was able to check the register/computer to inform me the book I wanted was not in stock. It took more than a half hour...

All employees but one were so nice. When I walked into the location, it was about 4 minutes to close. I just let the woman standing by the front in a blue shirt with short hair know that I had to use the restroom badly and that’s all I needed to come in for at this time. She looked at me and said “no we are all locked up” and I stated to her the place wasn’t officially closed. She didn’t say anything but gave me a dirty look and let me walk back where another employee directed to the bathroom with a smile. I’ve been wanting to come into here since I’m in the area a lot and love to read, but she has pushed me away as a potential customer and the company should reconsider...

I love going to BAM. Sometimes I go just to get away and have peace and quiet. Free WiFi is a plus if I'm downloading stuff. I will sit a couple hours catching up on my reading and then browse the store and pick up a little something for my grandkids. The staff is always welcoming and don't seem to mind customers hanging out, whether they make a purchase or not. They don't have the coffee place anymore but they do have Yogurt Mountain. The frozen yogurt is pretty good but can get expensive when you start adding the toppings. Again, the girls who work there are super friendly and welcoming.
