Denny's — Restaurant in Port Hueneme

Well this particular Denny's I found a little disappointing. Usually when I go to a Denny's I know what to expect, a fairly good menu that changes pretty often to keep things fresh. Good breakfast foods and some decent kids stuff. The wait staff is usually good, with seasoned servers and your typical kitchen staff (run of the mill but get the job done). This Denny's fell way short. Our server took exceptionally long to even greet us, it was the bus boy that got our drinks. Now if the place was busy... I get it, but it was empty maybe 6 or 7 tables being served. Once we ordered, the food took about 20 min, not to bad if it ALL showed up to our table. Only two orders showed up, two adult orders. We also had two kids orders. Kids orders should ALWAYS come before anything else. In fact ANOTHER sever brought out our food, we ordered an addition side of fries with her. Idk where are server was but eventually he showed up again to see how things were, we asked about the side of fries and he knew nothing about it. By this time we are finished with our food for the most part and said not to worry about the fries. He sure did remember to charge for everything though. DO NOT GO HERE! Wait staff is young and inexperienced, to busy flirting with one another to tend to their tables or jobs. Unapologetic for mistakes and no manager on duty (RIGHT!)...

So-so. Not really that good. I ordered the tbone steak and eggs medium well and it came out rare. The waiter didn't get back and it wasn't busy until after my significant other had already finished eating. The Dr. Pepper was missing bubbles and syrup so switched to hot tea which came with meal and this place just wasn't up to par as far as Denny's go. I'll try them again later. As we were leaving the waiter was shown that the steak was rare and he did offer to make a fresh one but I was kinda burnt out on eating since I already ate my fries and eggs and English muffin and well it was just too late in the eating phase to even want it redone and wait for it. They did not offer to take the steak off the bill which we should have asked them to, but nevertheless they weren't inhospitable or rude just slightly neglectful and not thinking about the cost of the steak meal (almost 20.00) and not being able to eat the steak. I don't like to complain it just doesn't change things but I'll try them again if we get the urge to go to Denny's in the future. And hopefully it will be better. Place was clean enough and the waiter was nice enough just not very service attentive and didn't even look at the steak nor ask us how things were until we...

My family goes here when we don't really have any other choice or if we all can't agree on something to eat. We went on this past Christmas.. the wait to be seated wasn't horrible but we waited for maybe 45 minutes to have our order taken. We had stopped a waitress asking for service and she said "I'll get you a waitress" and walked over to the table next to us that had one person in the same area and took his order when I say right next to us I mean the guy sitting next to us shoulders were basically rubbing up against my mom's shoulders. To us it was a big eff you! They ended up having almost their entire kitchen staff call out for Christmas and ended up closing shop to catch up so we understood the slow service. We ended up spending 3 hours there trying to get our food and the manager ended up giving us a discount. We went again the other day and my mom asked for lemon tea and they brought her orange... She ordered mash potatoes and they said they were out but she could get potatoes cut into 1/4s she asked why those potatoes couldn't be mashed and the waitress said because they come that way? The foods good but the staff is just ehhhh.... But what do expect...
