Great Wall Restaurant — Restaurant in Port Huron

I am fairly picky about my Chinese food and I went here on Google recommendation. The portion size was good for the price and the food was hot, but that is where the good ended for me.

I ordered the General Tso's chicken and after getting it home wished I hadn't. The sauce itself was okay, nothing to write home about.

The chicken (or lack thereof) was another matter. Basically it was breading with lots of gristle and very little chicken to speak of. Called to see about getting something else and was met with hostility and attitude about replacing which was hard as the person who answered didn't speak a lot of English.

Unfortunately, I that tends to be an issue with restaurants that do not hire or have English speaking employees. It is difficult to get good customer service over the phone because of the language barrier. No offense intended, it just a fact. May try again at some point but will be extremely picky about...

So I thought I would try this place as it had 4.2 stars. I really wasn't impressed. The employees were nice but the food wasn't that great. We had the Sweet & Sour Chicken * Almond boneless chicken combination plates. The fried chicken itself was good and the sweet & sour sauce was not bad however, the Almond Boneless Chicken sauce was terrible. It was almost like water and then it tasted like someone had poured half a cannister of salt in it. It also had a strange perfume like taste (not sure what that was about). We ended up dumping that and sharing the S&S sauce. The prices were average, Not sure I would recommend or try again but I'll leave that up to you as it could have been just a...

Great wall. It is Great, and the is no wall between the counter and kitchen.

I have ate there for the last 25 years (since I was a kid) , and this place gets 5 stars for consistency. I have had nearly the entire menu and EVERY time the food is exactly the same. I have never been sick from their food...the establishment is old, but not dirty.

Great portion sizes, fair prices, great service. They have my food ready when I arrive...even if I called it in in under ten minutes....still coming out piping hot as I walk in...

My wife is a vegan and they will make nearly any dish on their menu with tofu instead of meats. My go-to Chinese place in the area.
