Royal-T Cakery — Restaurant in Port Huron

We chose Royal-T Cakery for our wedding cake after our first baker had quit on us unexpectedly. They were able to take us on short notice which we were thankful for. The tasting was very casual and we were able to do it on our time, which made it very convenient. They are incredibly well priced and they have so many options to choose from. All of their flavors were so delicious! They are willing to create just about anything you have in mind as long as you give them plenty of time. The only reason why I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because they are a little difficult to get a hold of and there seems to be a lack of communication between staff. I was told email was an effective way to reach them, but every time I emailed them I never got any response. For example, I was told to email photos of what we wanted for our cake about a week before the wedding and I had emailed them and never got any response back. I had ended up having to call and make sure they received my email which they told me they did. However, when we went to go pay they were unable to do the design I really wanted because the baker never got my photos and didn't have the supplies to do the design. I came in to order a small cake in memory of my late mother’s birthday. I wanted a cake with some fondant decorations and the owner assured me ‘ they will make it pretty’. Upon leaving I took home a couple cupcakes to taste and realized that I didn’t like the white (which I ordered) and then called, left a message to change the flavor and add some purple butterflies to the cake. Didn’t hear back. I called the day before in the am, left msg with my number, didn’t hear back all day. Called AGAIN that afternoon, again, no answer and left yet another msg. No call back. The next day, I went to pick it up and not only was it not ready, they wanted $40.00 for this minus the ‘butterflies’ that look like bow ties and the ‘in memory’ not only took 20 mins to ‘make’ it doesn’t read like it should. About a week ago I gave a 5 star review. I thought the frosted sugar cookies and cupcakes were delicious. I really wanted to support this local business so I stopped in to order a birthday cake. It was a Sunday and I needed it for Wed night. The baker/owner was not there so I left my name and number with the young man working the counter. The next day I also emailed the bakery telling them that the cake did not need to be fancy and to just let me know either by a call or email if they could do it.
