If it were an option I would not give Sushi Sakana any stars! We were recently in town and were searching for a great sushi place to take my son, who was graduating from boot camp. We went to check this place out a couple days early and picked up a take out menu. On graduation day, we gathered our Marine and after a discussion with my family, we decided to order out and bring the sushi back to the house we had rented close by. I called at about 7:40 pm and placed a large order, with a total of at least 150-200 dollars. The woman on the phone told me it would be between 20 to 30 minutes. I gave her my number and asked her to call me when it was almost done and we would come then since we were so close by. She agreed. After about 40 minutes, I thought we would head down as it couldn't be much longer. As we were getting in our car my phone rang and it was the Sushi place, "perfect timing", I thought. Boy was I wrong. The woman on the phone, the same person that took my order said that my order would not be done until 9:30, the time that they close. She said that they only had one chef on and they got a lot of people in after I ordered, so they had started it but did not finish, so they could accommodate the people that came in to eat. I asked her if I came in to eat would it be faster and she said, maybe if you had come in when you ordered, but now it won't be done until 9:30. This situation was ridiculous to me. I had a very large order, so it was worth their time, I asked how long so I could determine if we wanted to wait or not. After a short discussion I decided to cancel the whole order. A gal there did say she saw my point but she was just a server. We did eat out many times when we were in Port Royal and spent a similar amount of money each time. I was sure not to give this mismanaged place any of my business and would advise you to...

I don't usually leave bad reviews but myself and 3 others had a terrible experience that needs to be brought to the owner's attention. The beginning started off great. We ordered drinks and then our meals-about 5 sushi rolls and a hibachi bowl. In that time our sweet teas were refilled once by the waitress picking up 3 of the teas then refilling them in the back area and reserving them with no ice and new straws. Now the odds are we got the same cup we started out with is 1 in 3. There might have been 10 people in the restaurant. 20 minutes in I was given a different tables order that was taken and reserved. We waited 50 minutes for our food. They forgot the Hibachi but when we eventually got it, it tasted like it had been made hours earlier and reheated and the shrimp was cold. The sushi was alright. While we waited a couple came in with two children and waited 20 minutes and no one took their order so they left. It took another 20 minutes to get our ticket which ended up being wrong. Two people in our party got sick when we got home. I would recommend not...

We ordered three rolls to go. Each was listed for $9.95 on the web site. Somehow our total was over $46 (I had someone other than myself pick the order up who was not aware of the menu prices). We got a Molly roll with brown tuna on the top, gross. A caterpillar roll that should have had smoked eel on top but there was none, additionally the roll wasn’t properly cut so when we removed pieces the whole thing came unrolled. And the worst yet was the spider roll. That should have, among other things contained soft shell crab and fish roe. Instead it contained FAKE CRAB and cream cheese. There wasn’t a single piece of fish roe on the entire order. 1st, I DO NOT order or eat anything with fake crab. 2nd, cream cheese has no place in sushi (for me) and I never order anything with it in it. This whole roll was destined for the trash. The icing on the $46 cake was there wasn’t even wasabi or ginger included with the order. The grocery store does a better job than this and I can’t believe this place is even...

I'm 38 years old, and having lived in several states and cities - this is the best sushi I have ever had the joy of eating. My wife and I look forward to being back. Sushi Sakana is a small family owned operation, so there is a wait period as they make your order by hand - and every piece of sushi is SO FREAKING GOOD. This was our first visit and we tried the Birthday Roll, the Beaufort Roll, the Ashley Roll, and the 911 roll. They were all delicious - the top two were the Biethday Roll and the 911. The Birthday Roll was brought out wrapped in foil and on fire - the lady of the restaurant cooked it at our table and engaged in light conversation. This was a an absolute magical work of food beauty. It had a savory grilled taste with notes of sweetness and spice. The 911 Roll was more on the spicy spectrum, but absolutely enjoyable!! If you're in Beaufort and find yourself wanting Sushi - DO NOT PASS on Sushi Sakana.

My husband and I are originally from California and have had our fair share of sushi—but this place honestly blew us away. We’ve been living in Beaufort for a year now and can’t believe it took us this long to try it. We ordered several of their most popular dishes—Monica Salad, Choi Roll, Birthday Roll, Snow Roll, White Castle, and Marine Roll—and every single one was amazing. Each roll had a clean, unique flavor combination, and it’s clear that a lot of thought goes into the ingredients and pairings. We couldn’t stop talking about each dish as we left. It really was that good. The restaurant is run by Mr. Choi and Mrs. Monica, who were both so warm and friendly. They gave great recommendations, and service was excellent. We’re already planning our next visit!!

You know what? It's good. We always order take out and it's sometimes hard to get an order in because they get busy and seem understaffed. But it's always worth the wait and they have some really creative sushi rolls. Toppings I've never seen on sushi elsewhere like kiwi and slivered almonds. My only complaint is that cream cheese seems to end up in everything. So I ask for "no cream cheese" and they oblige every time (thanks!). So if you're feeling adventurous and want interesting sushi rolls, I think this is a good bet.
