Whistle Stop Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Porter

Walked into Zorn Brewery around 8:12pm kitchen was closed, but we asked about the “new” kitchen at the whistle stop. One of the bartenders sitting at the zorn bar called the head chef Ricardo at the whistle stop to ask what time the kitchen closed. Ricardo told him 9pm. We left zorn and made it to the whistle stop @ 8:33pm to be told the kitchen is closed. Had Ricardo just told the guy calling on the phone they were closing, cool! Not a huge deal, annoying because we drove there just for the food. Val was the bartender. She was really nice and apologetic. Please advertise or at least tell people the truth on your closing time when they’re calling to inquire. It’s pretty crappy to get a call, say one thing, and then you close the kitchen knowing someone...

This place had good karaoke. The volume was perfect. You could hear the music but didn't have to yell to have a conversation. The bar was crowded with single customers so it took forever to order and get your drink. The food was literally just microwave/toaster oven fare, not great but not bad. Almost every customer in the place was chain smoking which is a huge turn off for me. If it weren't for the disgusting cigarette smoke everywhere with no ventilation I'd probably have given it...

Six out of seven bartenders at this establishment are absolutely fantastic — friendly, attentive, and professional. Unfortunately, one bartender (who also appears to be a manager) consistently brings down the atmosphere with her attitude.
