MAXIMOS TAQUERIA — Restaurant in Porterville

Today is the first time I have gone to Maximo's. When I stepped into this restaurant, I thought "oh, one of those hipster places where the food's gonna be bland and too expensive." BUT, let me tell you my friends, I was wrong. The owner was energetic and friendly, the service was quick and the food? The food was superb, divine, beyond even my highest expectations.

Now, first off, I am a person who has had a strong preference for chicken since I was a small child. I have had chicken cooked a million ways, from 'okay' to 'outstanding'. But the chicken at Maximo's? This is the holy grail that every true lover of chicken should go on pilgrimage to seek. It is, without a doubt, the most flavorful, perfect chicken I have had in my whole life. I will not lie and tell you this chicken is good. It is masterful. It is the best chicken I have ever had. The texture's soft without being too soft, the marinade is perfect. There's a bit of char on there that is truly chef's kiss. I went with my grandmother and brother, and they were very happy with the carne asada and carnitas, but even they went "damn, I should have got the chicken!"

Go here. Eat the chicken. Eat everything, I am sure it's all very good, and if I wasn't one of those people who always go for chicken, i would sample everything. Give this man so much business, he really deserves it. The salsas are also very good, but next time I will have mine on the side because I get tummyaches easily.

My one critique is that while there were a lot of beers available, there were only a couple non alcoholic drink choices. And for people avoiding sugar, there was only diet coke. I would really love coke or sprite zero, or maybe an...

When I arrived I placed my order and the receipt machine messed up so lady wasn’t able to give me my receipt. She was also not able to give it to the people behind me . The people behind me were all getting there orders as soon as they ordered . I was waiting for 30 minutes until I went up to the ladies and let her know . She then proceeded to ask the other lady which had taken my order . She proceeded to say she didn’t know and asked me my order . I had ordered 9 tacos and asada fries . My order was finished and they gave me 6 tacos and the fries . I let her know I ordered 9 and she asked me for my receipt yet she didn’t give me any receipt ! She was all mad and went with the other saying that I was trying to scam them and I only ordered the 6 tacos girlllll there is no was I paid $45 for (fries $15) and the 6 tacos were $5 each. They were also saying that why would I try and do that if don’t I see there behind , i don’t care I have grace but they got themselves behind by not keeping up . I want what I paid for . Anyways service really needs to improve because it’s is ridiculous not worth my 1 1/2 hours...

I've been a loyal customer for years, drawn in by their tasty asada burrito bowl. However, my recent experience with their burrito bowl was incredibly disappointing. While the beef was as flavorful as ever, the portion size left much to be desired, especially considering the hefty price tag.

To put it bluntly, I felt like I paid a premium for what seemed like an appetizer-sized portion. The bowl was mostly filled with rice and beans, with only a small amount of beef and scant toppings. It was disheartening to see such a lack of balance in the ingredients.

Furthermore, the overall presentation was lackluster. The bowl looked sparse and unappealing, lacking the vibrant colors and generous portions I've come to expect from Maximo's.

Service-wise, there were no complaints; the staff was friendly and efficient. However, the disappointment in the food overshadowed any positive aspects of the visit.

As someone who has enjoyed the flavors of Maximo's in the past, I hope they reconsider their portion sizes or adjust their prices accordingly. Until then, I'm hesitant to return for another underwhelming burrito...
