This is a nice little gem in Porterville. The food is always delicious if you're a fan of barbecue 😋 I haven't ever ordered anything except the Hobo Sandwich, which is tri tip shredded with grilled onions on a crispy, french hoagie roll, smothered in your choice if barbecue sauce (sweet or spicy). I always opt for spicy. It's about 15 dollars per person and well worth it, as the food is extremely filling. There is also a little side bar with condiments of your choosing, including extra BBQ sauces, peppercloncinis, jalapeños, salsa, etc. I recommend grabbing plenty of napkins, something to drink from either the fountain drinks or the fridge and sitting at one of the picnic tables outside.

Nice place to have a meal. Decent seating for small groups. The tri tip and pasta salad were delicious. The beans were described as having small tri tip pieces and spicy, but none were found (just spicy pinto beans). Bread was a little too toasty, but eatable. Overall the food was good, but a little pricey for the portions given. Reception from the clerk was less than enthusiastic, but okay. Clerk needs to improve on customer service.

DON’t GET THE HOBO SANDWHICH!!! Just got one and it was a disappointment coming from this place. I’ve had there other sandwiches and they’re good. But this sandwich the Tritip had too much fat and it was rubbery. No wonder they call it a hobo sandwich, only a hobo would eat it. It’s like meat that is no good they throw it in this sandwich.

Very disappointing. About a year ago I was in town and I ate at the Anvil. What I had from there was amazing. The meat had the perfect level of smokiness to it, tender juicy I loved it. When I found out that I was coming back to Porterville with work first thing I thought about was returning to the Anvil. Went back tonight and got the tri-tip meal. After I got back to my hotel and opened the bag I was very disappointed at the portion size. I literally laughed out loud when I saw how little meat there was in there. And on top of that the beans that I got as a side, the container they put it in did not seal very good so everything was covered in juice. Even my napkins were half-soaked in the bean juice. So unfortunately if I ever come this way again I don't think I'll be returning...

I wish I could say I went here but my phone is being controlled by this sick group of people who run a red room on the dark web! Unfortunately, I was chosen to be their... well victim but I didn't die... they now do all kinds of horrible things to me... they knocked me out and let men do whatever they wanted to me... they video this stuff and sell it on the dark web as well as charge the men $5,000 or more! They need to be stopped! It's crazy how they keep doing it and keep getting away with it! Bribes, pay-offs, threats... I don't know but law enforcement knows and they hide their heads in the sand! It's a big world though and I know there is an ETHICAL OFFICER OUT THERE THAT WOULDNT...
