I need to preface this review acknowledging that it was 4th of July and there was a neighborhood event 4 blocks down, for that reason I'm actually increasing the stars on my review by two. Fully understanding that business is harder to gauge on a holiday I'm giving cushion for reduced staff or continuity of service, that being said...

That was the worst pizza I had this year, it was dry looking in the heat lamp display and it was more dry looking on the small tin they hid under my pizza and the paper between. Hide and seek of my plate is a fun party trick but not great off it slid off onto the floor. I bought slices because the kitchen was estimating 45 min on a large pizza, given that a pizza with fresh ingredients takes 10-15 minutes to cook in an oven they must be backed up 10+ pies, however, my entire visit only sit down groups came in numbering 3.

To the restaurant: check your hold times, your by the slice pizza doesn't need to be oven fresh but it needs to look tasty, if it's dry before you reheat, it's going to be dry after. I could only taste small portions of my pizza slices, I got no pepperoni taste in one slice and my veggies were dead on the second. By the slice sales are dangerous territory, you have a sliver of time between appetizing and leftover's, and quite honestly I've had better day old pizza reheated.

Potential customers: I'm giving them two stars, but if a restaurant cannot guarantee quality in by the slice they should never offer them and for this reason I personally will not be returning. I understand their fresh is probably better and by rights it should, however, they put that pizza on a plate and served it and that tells me something about their fresh.

In closing: I'm no stranger to pizza, but I've had better pizza in South Korea, and they aren't exactly known for Italian food. This restaurant should be ashamed of the product...

Good crust, GREAT margherita pizza, red sauce falls flat.

I gave this four stars mainly because of their Margherita without that it would have been three.

So I judge a pizzeria mainly by two things: how good their red sauce is on a plain cheese pizza, and how well they do a margharita pizza. Let me say the latter was great. Their marg is served on a butter sauce and is absolutely delicious. They use fresh roasted garlic on it and a good marg should have fresh garlic on it. It tasted fresh, the crust was GREAT (crispy, flakey, not too stiff, you could still fold it, it reminded me of a good croissant), and you could really taste the fresh basil and fresh tomatoes. Just really delicious.

On to the cheese pizza. Here, their sauce falls flat. Basically it's just a very flat sauce. Reminded me of public school cafeteria pizza sauce only spicier. Doesn't really have any tang to it to remind you of fresh tomatoes, not even sweet or savory really, just kind of blah. And this is what they make all of their red sauce pizzas on.

Bottom line: great crust, GREAT margherita pizza, their red sauce leaves something...

We've been ordering from Atlas Pizza to help accommodate one of our kids' friends who have horrific allergies and when we first ordered from them they're gluten-free dairy-free vegan pizzas we're almost indistinguishable between the regular pizzas except for of course the price. Apparently during the pandemic shutdown they either lost the ability to order the quality imitation ingredients such as good gluten-free dough good dairy-free cheeses good imitation vegan meats because the pizza that we got tasted like a meal y grainy gritty and the meat was stringy. For the prices that they are charging they need to be a little bit more honest especially if they've had to change ingredients because of the pandemic. This will be the last time my family ever orders from this place because even the regular pepperoni and cheese pizzas we ordered were overcooked and a house full of teenagers didn't even like it. Good luck in your efforts I will not be shocked when you shutter your doors but I will be shocked if you guys don't end up franchising and becoming the next Domino's gross...

In the last 10 years or so, Southeast Portland has become a wonderful place to get pizza by the slice. Whether you're on Division, Foster, or watching a Pickles baseball game, Atlas has become an integral part of this delightful development. The Division location has pinball, to add to the ambiance, making it a nice place to either wait for an order to-go, or just to enjoy yourself while dining in. Like many pizza spots during pandemic times, Atlas does not currently open until 4:00 PM. I'm looking forward to being able to get lunchtime slices again. The beer selection here isn't huge, but a recent houseguest called after his visit to ask what we had to drink at Atlas, so the beverage experience will be as pleasant as the pizza side of the equation. ------------ April 2023 Just a quick update - the pandemic seems to have made a lasting negative effect on the general availability of pizza by the slice. Atlas remains a strong choice, though I believe they still don't open until 4:00 PM. So, lunchtime slices remain difficult to find these days.

I went here for the first time about a week or two ago and was amazed at how good the pizza was. Unfortunately today I went back to get some of that yummy goodness but it was far from what I experienced the first time. This time the bottom of the crust was pretty much burnt and for me personally ruined the flavor of both slices I bought. It’s a shame too cuz this was my new favorite pizza. Not sure if I wanna come back and risk buying off putting burnt flavored pizza again. Bummed Edit: I went back and asked if they could check the bottom for me to see if it wasn’t too burnt. The girl working was very kind and patient and got me a slice that was once again delicious and I really appreciated that. And because of this I would change my rating back up to a four and a half star. Think it was just an off day last time. I realize that the pizza can change a bit from time to time but for me if pizza has a burnt flavor it just ruins the experience. Glad Atlas is still a great choice for pie. Thxxx
