I chose this restaurant because I really loved it every time I’ve gone. It is at 820 NE 27th Ave, Portland Inside the zipper building. This time I went I was the first in the door. It was a good atmosphere inside. I walked in at 10:53 A.M. I biked there from my house and it took around fifteen minutes. I sat down outside under the cover. I ordered a Fried chicken sandwich which typically costs 12$, But I also wanted the “Make it spicy” which is an extra 1.50$. So in total I ordered 13.50$ worth of food. I’m 99% sure that the “Make it spicy” was just a sauce, and 1.50$ is a little bit extra for just a sauce. Granted it was good sauce, but it is still a little bit much. Ok on to the sandwich. The sandwich was about 5 inches tall and about as wide as my palm. The first bite was very crunchy, and back to the “Make it spicy” WHERE WAS IT?? This would have been spicy for someone who finds white bread hot. The slaw was very good it had a good ratio between the sauce and the cabbage. The pickles seemed homemade and had a good texture, they went under the chicken which is odd, typically they go over the sandwich. Same with the slaw, it was under. The bun was perfectly toasted and was very soft. The seat was a little dirty and had some weird black stuff on it. Although that is a public area and not basilisk’s responsibility. After I ordered I went to my seat which was right next to the door inside. The time from order to food being served was 9 minutes. I think that the time implies that they fried the chicken fresh, and it came out hot, quite unlike the flavor “Make it hot”. The service was very good and the man serving me was very polite. The ordering process was very easy because the menu was right above the counter. Overall it was a good experience, but with an option that says spicy, I would expect it to be a little bit spicier.
