This is a very beautiful and precious apothecary. There is lots of sweetness and care here. I will say I have one qualm upon my last visit. I had bought a game as a gift for my partner for our anniversary, which the manager had sold me the used store copy of. On my walk home and further examination I realized that the game wasn't for me as a lot of the questions centered on sexual experiences with past partners or fantasizing about people from your past. I personally was looking to build playful intimacy for my anniversary that focused on my relationship solely. So I immediately turned around to return the game. I had maybe left the shop at that point for 5 minutes. And when I tried to return the game the manager refused due to their no refunds policy, which upon my purchase I was not made aware of. They said they would do me a favor and sell me a different game in exchange, which I really didn't want and felt that was wasteful as it would be useless to me. But that was my only option. Now I have been into this shop before and have never been told about this no refund policy. I totally get the no refund policy for their body products (that would be unsanitary), or even for a new unopened item that you then open. I would never try to return an item like that. But I was sold the used, pre-opened game that was a shelf copy that I didn't even get a discount for. And I returned it in the same condition as I purchased it. Had I been made aware of the no refund policy I would have maybe understood. Also considering I was only out the door for minutes, I just felt like that was honestly pretty cheap. I have worked in many shops before and have always been flexible and understanding with customers had the product been returned in the same condition, because, hey, people are people and can change their minds. It's also pretty simple in those systems to return money for a recently purchased item. Especially if its in a reasonable amount of time. It honestly made me feel like they care about keeping my money more than my experience and feeling good about what I paid for. Just know they have a strict no refund policy even if they don't tell you upon purchasing an item. And they will...
Read moreSeagrape Apothecary is one of the lesser-known metaphysical stores in the Portland metro area, especially since it's quite hidden from busy street view; however, it's truly one of the best. I could feel the positive, affirming atmosphere as soon as I stepped into the little shop. In addition, it smelled wonderful, due to the handmade soaps and "potions" that the store produces. The employees were super kind, one of them willing to give me a detailed tour of the apothecary, and ready to chat about the different goods offered. They have a good little library with a lot of selections, both some of the classics as well as lesser known published books that I found fascinating. I picked up a couple today and I would love to stop back inside. They're a bit on the pricey side, but they're...
