Birrieria La Plaza - Foster Food Carts — Restaurant in Portland

Decided to try this place as I was in SE and wanted some quesobirria tacos. I'll start with the good, the consome is delicious, no doubt about that. The problem here, is I ordered 6 quesobirria tacos, the girl repeated the order back to me. I take my order and when I get home I realized none of my tacos are quesobirria, they're just regular tacos. Thats pretty upsetting that they cant pay attention to detail, even after the girl taking the order repeated it back to me. I also realize that I was not given any sauce so now my order is wrong and I can't even enjoy some salsa. Tacos are on the smaller side. 3 starts because the consome is good.

Decidi probar este lugar porque andaba en la area Sureste de Portland y tenia ganas de unos taquitos de Quesobirria. Lo bueno: el consome esta delicioso!!! El problema: ordeno 6 tacos de quesobirria y la muchacha que toma las ordenes me repite mi order y se lo confirmo. Llegando a casa me doy cuenta que los 6 tacos son tacos normales (no quesobirrias) Les hace falta poner atencion a las ordenes que estan dando. Tambien me doy cuenta que mi orden no lleva nada de salsas, como se les va olvidar las salsas???? Somos mexicanos, las salsas son muy importantes! Los tacos son en el lado chico comparado a otros lugares. 3 estrellas porque el consome...

I love all Mexican food, and it's hard to mess it up.. Birria especially, I didn't know it could be subpar. This was my first time here, I felt the portions were small for the price, the tacos were nowhere near as good as the ones I've gotten from several different food carts... they were small with not much filling, and the consome was only a broth with no onions or cilantro in it, which I found weird. One of the items we bought was the $16.00 3-quesataco + beans and rice meal, it was tasty but super small for the menu price. We got it to-go in one of those divider containers, and there were maybe two spoonfuls of beans and rice on each side, definitely something I wouldn't go back for.

Also, it was slow (about 3:30, so between lunch and dinner) the tables were dirty, napkins were empty, and the server was a little confused, I asked for consomé for our food, she charged $2 extra for it, i had to ask for it, and she brought it at the end of our meal after we finished. 🤷‍♀️

I recently stopped in for a to go order of three tacos and a small consomé - both were on the SPICY side and AMAZING! I plan on pouring the leftovers over noodles - we’re talking hearty, rich with flavor and plenty of tender beef and onions. The tacos were delicious and filling - the corn tortillas were fresh as they make them in-house. The house made salsa (I tried the green sauce) was a nice compliment of cool flavor. The restaurant was spotless and the service was fast and friendly. I plan on bringing the family next time. The pic only shows two tacos - I was hungry and scarfed one down before realizing I needed to write a review for this place. This was an excellent fast food option without the fast food feel. It’s authentic and delicious cuisine. Scratch Taco Bell off your list and go for the real deal - and make noodles with consomé...
