EDIT 2019: THEY NOW HAVE SANTA!!!! its soo cool
From 2018: Best tree lot in Portland. Says me... The troop works with local growers to get trees and offers them tot he local community at a fair price. Then the proceeds support the troop and al the local children that get involved in it. Best of all there is a program for everyone boy, girl, 12 to 18 and plenty of other opportunities like Cub Scouts under 11 and Venture crew. After all that you can bring the tree back after December 26th and for 10 the Cub Scouts will recycle it and fund their part of the program. I am not sure how a person could spend money on something they want and have this much positive local impact. The folks running the tree lot are all unpaid volunteers. The scouts learn basic work ethics and accountability while "working" the entire seasons. The tree lot offers Grand, Noble, and Douglas fir trees. The have natural also called Charlie Brown trees.
You can bring your family down, select a tree, have it shaken (getting rid of leaves and needles) get a fresh cut along the bottom edge and even have it bailed (bound for transport) and none of the extras cost you extra. They have tree stands (while supplies last), wreathes (while supplies last), heck they even have candy canes (also while supplies last). And you can have your picture taken on a cool sled set up just for you (with or without purchase). It seems like a no brainer, if your getting a tree this one amazing place...
Read moreThis is our third year buying from the Scouts and once again we're very happy with our tree and very happy that our purchase supports these kids. This year we redecorated so wanted something smaller (closer to 4 feet). The Scouts are always very helpful and politely ask if you need assistance so I didn't feel bad asking them to move a few trees for me so I could get a better look at potential trees. We ended up with a plump, 4-5 footer that smells great. Once you select your tree they trim the bottom, shake it out and carry it to your car. They also sell different sized...
Read moreThis place is great. If you need a tree and want to support a club that encourages young boys and girls to understand the meaning of what it is to be a good citizen, then this is your spot - You can see it all happening in front of your very eyes - Girls and Boys whizzing back and forth, from helping you find a tree, to shaking it ( getting it baled if you need to) bringing it to your car and hoisting it onto your roof (As was mentioned below, they can't tie it for liability purposes, but hey, who's complaining if this is all one has to do - you may even learn a new knot-or-two from them). Oh and did I mention that they have a great selection of trees - what else would one expect from these denizens of the...
