Read more03/04/17: 3.0 out 5 - Today was a disappointment. The service was attentive but par at best. The problem was that things were forgotten from our order and we were still charged for it.
The food was okay. The problem here was that ingredients of the items ordered didn't match the description on the menu. As patrons we should have been informed about it.
The best part of the meal was the coffee. Whether we go back is to be determined. I am hopeful for this place though, so I will see.
01/22/17: 4.0 out 5 - Came here for brunch in support of Portland's small eatery businesses post- on of Portland's biggest Winter Storm.
Bread and Honey Cafe seemed small from the outside, but as you go in, it actually is a decent size. You have the option of counter service or table service.
Staff are nice people and out waiter was very friendly, informative, and attentive with our table. The interior was clean with clean bathrooms, so obvious the staff takes pride in the place.
The food, at first, seemed like small portion sizes, but it was actually the right portions. We felt satiated after finishing the meal not only because of the portion size but also because the food was tasty.

The atmosphere was drenched in warm lighting and smooth jazz that immediately relaxed me. I was greeted by Mo (the owner) with a friendly smile and a cheerful, "How can I help you?" I ordered a Breakfast Burrito made with fluffy eggs, bacon, spinach, black beans, and earthy potatoes, topped off with sharp cheddar cheese. The flavors were a perfect combination of tangy, savory, and sweet creamy butter. Of course, everything thing in the Café is made from scratch with quality fresh ingredients. Mo said, "I love getting here early in the morning to create with flour, honey, butter, and spices. It's so wonderful to be able to express what you love." His food is made with love and passion and you can taste it in every bite. Mo serves, salads, smoothies, sandwiches, breakfast, baked pies, a full espresso bar, and coffee. The Mediterranean Quiche is next on my list to try. Next time you're in the mood for some delicious food and drink in a charming atmosphere, come by the Bread & Honey and let Mo take care of you.
