I'm gonna update my review after I had brunch with my friends here for my birthday. The service was very good despite the place being pretty packed. The food was good, the place was nice and clean, and most importantly the bottomless mimosas were truly bottomless. It kinda sucks that customers can have a bad experience because of one rogue staff in a place that is otherwise run very smoothly. Old Review: I'm updating my review to one star because it seems like Brix doesn't train their service staff properly on how to communicate with potential customers. I asked the lady at the front if we can order the drinks at the bar and take it outside because on First Thursdays you can drink outside on the streets. I was told with a good portion of contempt and a big portion of passive aggression that "This is a restaurant, you need to sit on a table to be served." Which in itself isn't a bad sentence but something about this didn't feel right. Service staff make money when doing their job, when I work at my job that I earn money in I always attempt to take the high road and give the customer the benefit of the doubt; because I am working. None of the work seemed to exist in this interaction, I don't think it's fair that people would get paid for snubbing people to aggrandize themselves to compensate for whatever inferior state of mind they occupy.

My partner and I had dinner here before a concert, and were pretty disappointed. The service was extremely slow. It took about 15 minutes before we could even order our drinks, and at least 15 minutes to get our drink. I understand being busy and things taking time, but it was not busy. Usually if we get dinner, we get 2 drinks and our meal. Because of how long everything took, we barely had time for one. Now the food was good. My partner got a wagyu beef burger, and he said it was phenomenal. He did ask for extra sauce, which he said he didnt get. But the fact his burger was that good, he was able to look past it. I ordered the Brix fried chicken breast, which came with country gravy and seasonal veggies. The chicken was amazing and juicy and perfectly fried. The veggies were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I devoured them so quickly. But the gravy...I was expecting country gravy, but I got a brown gravy. Not that brown gravy isn't good, but I was expecting country gravy, so that was very disappointing. The food was so good, but it was so hard to get past the brown gravy. All in all, I dont think we will return. The food was amazing, but not worth the long wait and super slow service. And definitely not worth getting the wrong kind of gravy with my chicken and mashed potatoes

This is a really nice place. Great food and the staff are friendly and on top of things. It's also in a great location and they have an amazing beer selection. So why the 3 stars? We arrived at 2:15pm on a Saturday to get a late brunch and were told there were no tables available because of reservations for brunch. I've attached 3 photos, two of which showing at least 70% of the restaurant open and the third showing OpenTable's available time slots, one of which was *15* minutes after we arrived. I considered asking if we should just walk out, make the reservation on my phone, then walk back in 3 minute later to get a table. We were hungry though so we just took the seats at the counter. I completely understand if a place is busy and there aren't enough tables. I can also understand if there are reservations coming up to take all of the available tables. But in this case neither of those things were true and I just don't understand why they would lie to us!

Have been here before a year or 2 ago, and never had an issue. Came back after a year or 2 to celebrate my birthday, and it was pretty disappointing with how the food came out. My wifes first steak was way over seasoned and deemed inedible, and we had it sent back for another one. After about 7-10 minutes, my wife was brought this. Completely pink in the middle of the steak top to bottom, yet over done on the edges with an excessive amount of blood still coming from it. I told my wife to not eat that in fear of her getting food poisoning and I informed our lovely waitress Amber about what was brought to us. She was phenomenal with the situation, but for this steak to be deemed okay to serve from the chefs, is highly unacceptable. I never complain about food, but my wife being served this and getting one that was worse than the first one, is pretty sad and disappointing. Dont know when we'll be back, but hopefully our next dinner, will be better than this.

I came here for a Portland Burger Week burger. It was fine, patty felt over worked and/or low quality, not nice meat to be cooking to medium temp. Do not recommend brix at all. The servers made a big stink about us potentially having more than 8 people at once without making a reservation, even though the place is huge and was mostly empty on a Friday night--during portland burger week 🚩. Before hardly anyone showed up, and with some of my quietest co-workers, they actually told us to NOT BE LOUD. Service was insanely slow even though 5-6 servers were working. It would take 10-20 minutes to receive a beer in a can (One IPA on tap $8)! We waited another 30 minutes for a burger that had been forgotten near closing when it was even more slow. The servers were kind and really did their best, I think there's something wrong with how this place is being run. It shouldn't take that long for a drink at a "Tavern."

Went tonight for my husbands birthday and we left extremely disappointed. The drinks were nice. His mac and cheese was good. My prime rib was extremely salty so I sent it back. The second time the meat was rare almost raw in the middle. I like medium rare but this was extreme. The blood soaked into my potatoes and vegetables so I didn’t feel safe eating it. We both got creme brûlée’s but neither one was cooked right. They were more like flan than creme brûlée. There was a private event happening which was extremely large and loud which made it hard to hear from across the table. But I will say our waitress Amber was wonderful and very apologetic. She tried to make things right and even though she was very busy she did her best. We’ve been here before years ago with no issues. If we decide to come back hopefully it’s much better than this!
