Tanner Springs Park is a jewel of a park. No dogs allowed and it is about as pure an experience of what was there in nature (except for the bluegrass part on the west side. Any one who goes there should do so with some thought of the nature, the birds (a great blue heron visits every spring, and ducks nest throughout the summer), bugs and water plants.
It is a shame that humans are such pigs and cannot stop throwing their refuse around the edges. And some unfriendly, big fat men like to smoke cigars over there and stink the whole place up with their alcohol and horrid selves. shame. And still, dog owners let their mangy flea-bitten dogs pee around the perimeter. Very sad. But on a good day there are no unruly kids and no dog owners to be seen except trekking with their mutts over to the dog park at The Fields up the street. I love that park. It's also a popular place for getting hitched photos. Next time you happen to be in the neighborhood check it out and...

Beautifully designed, with soft waving grasses and marsh vibe, lots of places to sit and boardwalk paths to wander. If you have little kids in tow there are tons of things to keep their attention, ducks and fish in the water and the streetcar going around the park. One of my favorite city (like, inside the city) parks I've ever...
