I have been to dozens and dozens of specialty roasters and coffee shops across the country, from acclaimed, nationally ranked locations, to local staples. I also order specialty coffee beans from all over the nation, sey, black & white, heart, onyx, you name it.
When I say this place was one of the few bright spots during my time in Portland I mean it. What the owner has done with this shop feels special. I always stop in and get a coffee and a bag to bring back home to the mountains with me when I’m in town. Really fantastic coffee and a true local gem.
The only issues I’ve had in here were with the socially inept, dreary, entitled Portlanders who live to make peoples lives hard. I have never had anything but great interactions with the staff or owner. My only minor gripe is that, in all fairness, the location is a bit small.

So I wandered into Cinco Siete PDX expecting a decent cup of coffee, and left questioning every other latte I've ever consumed. The cardamom rose latte? It's like your mouth got invited to a fancy garden party hosted by someone with excellent taste in spices. I don’t know who thought to combine cardamom and rose, but I’m convinced they might be a genius or a wizard. Possibly both.
The outdoor patio is also a vibe. Spacious, laid-back, and filled with the kind of energy that makes you want to stay for “just one more coffee” until suddenly you’ve been there for three hours, contemplating getting a plant and maybe writing a novel.
