When it comes to satisfying lunch cravings during work hours, East Side Deli on Lombard is my go-to spot, and for good reason. This gem of a deli never fails to deliver a mouthwatering experience.
My personal favorite, the spicy Italian sandwich, is a true masterpiece. Piled high with ham, pepperoni, salami, and provolone, it's a carnivore's delight. But what truly sets it apart is the combination of spicy mayo and deli mustard, adding a kick that elevates every bite. The fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, pepperoncini, olives, and pickles provide the perfect balance of flavors and textures, creating a symphony of taste that explodes in your mouth with each bite.
One of the things I love most about East Side Deli is the friendly staff who always greet you with a smile. Despite the lunchtime rush, the wait time for your food is refreshingly short, ensuring you can get back to work with a satisfied stomach and a smile on your face.
Whether you're a local or just passing through the area, East Side Deli on Lombard is a must-visit destination for anyone craving a delicious sandwich experience. Trust me, once you've tried their spicy Italian, you'll be hooked. So next time you find yourself in the vicinity, don't hesitate to stop by and indulge in the flavor explosion that awaits at...
Read moreEastside Deli was once a great (if a bit overpriced) sandwich shop bristling with local art, great people, and gobs of personality. Now it's just sad. Save your patronage for somewhere that cares.
A prime example of post-pandemic degradation of service and community spaces. The restaurant is closed. You cannot enter. There are a few sidewalk tables, all filthy, and that's it. Need to use the restroom or wash your hands before you eat? Better go somewhere else. Want to enjoy that nice patio out back? Too bad.
Worse yet, there are no humans to interact with or ask questions of. Instead, you must place and pay for your order through a tablet on the sidewalk. Then, you're asked to tip the good folks making your sandwich who you aren't allowed to talk to or interact with. And then, get this, they charge you a ducking service fee for the privilege of doing everything yourself! That's expensive sandwiches to start, a tip for no human interaction whatsoever, and a freaking service fee on top for doing literally everything but the sandwich making yourself.
Goodbye Eastside Deli. You were a great...
Read moreI have eaten here once and the food was good so I’ve tried to go twice since. They have no one taking orders so you must order on-line or through their kiosk. The first visit I laboriously placed my order to only have have it disappear after I hit send for payment. This time I entered my order and it wouldn’t take payment. I finally got the attention of an employee that said I had done everything correctly but sometimes their system doesn’t work! She didn’t offer to take my order but instead asked me to try the kiosk. The kiosk had 3 people in line and the individual at the lead couldn’t get it to accept his payment! There is no public restroom available either so no way to wash hands before handling your sandwich! I decide to go somewhere else and not support such terrible business practices. The food may or may not be as good as it was when I ate there before but I don’t need to spend nearly $20 on a BLT and...
