We’ve been coming here for close to 20 years. Excellent, friendly service from a kind family every time! The food is always consistently delicious and the atmosphere is casual with tons of comfortable booths. We’ve loved everything we’ve ordered here but usually just get ala carte hard shell and soft flour ground beef tacos ($2.95 each). They’re a great deal and with all their complimentary chips and delicious salsa it just takes a few tacos to fill you up happily. We’ve also had their fajitas trio ($30) (beef, chicken, prawns and grilled peppers and onions) and it comes with a full size plate of beans, rice, sour cream, pico de gallo and guacamole - and really liked that. Their combo plates are so good with many choices of enchiladas, Rellenos, tamales, sopes, tacos, burritos… that come with beans and rice. Delicious and very filling. Highly recommended!!

I've seen a few reviews complaining about their delivery, I can't speak to that. BUT their fine in food is fantastic I've lived in Portland for like 7 years now and my top two spots for Mexican food is here and tachos in Oregon city. The drink are GREAT, the food is good and the combo/choose your own meal menu choice is absolutely a good deal. Their nacho is great, chicken enchilada is best I've had in Portland to date, arroz con Pollo is also great. I will say don't get anything with ground beef, it's not bad but just not to the same quality as the other protein options. The beans are also good but not particularly amazing. The rice is very good although I usually do not like Mexican rice so if you do you might not like the rice as much as I do. All in all it's a bit expensive but I would say worth it 100%

I love the blackberry margarita. Classic choices that are fresh and delicious. I've eaten here several times and have not been disappointed with the exception of them not having the blackberry margarita and flan available. I've had the Burrito Tapatio, Chile Colorado, Camarones Chipoltle, Chile Relleno, and Enchilada. The servers are efficient and friendly, and the restaurant is clean, from the register to the restroom. You can order ahead, get delivery, and dine in. Tonight I had the Grande Combo with enchilada and chile relleno. I had strawberry margarita on the rocks for drinks. My daughter was meeting me there, so I asked her if I could order her a drink. She opted for the (small) strawberry margarita. When she arrived, her first words were "is that a small?" 😆😂🤣

I'm just a normal Mexican food lover and I absolutely urge anyone to NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS RESTAURANT!!! Go to the Original Taco House instead where they have polite waiters and waitresses and decent food. I FELT THREATENED BY THE SERVICE HERE AND I HAD MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WITH ME!

My sister, my daughter, and I were greeted with the most unprofessional and hostile service in our lives. WE DID NOTHING TO PROVOKE THE WAITRESS. The waitress is obviously anti-military and does not cater to family's at all. Let me explain what happened.

On a Monday evening my sister, daughter, and I decided to go to the Tapatio for dinner. We enter the restaurant and were greeted by a Hispanic woman that showed us to our seat. She forgot to get or even ask if I wanted a high chair for my two year old, but I pretended that she may have just forgot to think of it. She runs off and I venture out to obtain a high chair for my daughter. When the waitress comes back she asks us what we'd like to eat. She looks at my sister and calls her "Amigo," but nothing is mentioned about it because we were all in disbelief. She then asks me what I'd like to drink, and I respond with a Pacifico. She then asks for my ID and I give her my drivers license. She rudely stares at my driver's license for awhile and tells me that it's expired. This happens all the time with me, because my expiration date is Military instead of the normal date and will expire when I get out in 3 years after 5 years of current service. I then show her my military ID and she makes some kind of rude remark "Oh cooooll" then gestures and gives it back to me. She stomps off to get our drinks and I tell my sister that we're leaving because I was afraid of what they might do next (possibly poison or spit in our food). As she comes back with my Pacifico I tell her we're leaving and she gives a snide look and responds okay. My daughter is screaming her head off as we leave, because she was very hungry. I would've gone directly to the manager, but I didn't want to leave my screaming daughter with my sister. During our entire time in that restaurant my sister and I were polite and did nothing to deserve such hostile service.

Later that night we went to the Original Taco House and had a great dinner. I called Tapatio to inform the woman's manager of the poor service, but unfortunately the same female waitress answered the phone and told me the manager wasn't in. During the conversation she was extremely rude while I was being as formal and direct with my side of the conversation as possible. She would intermittently set the phone down just to not talk to me while I waited for her to pick back up the phone so I could finish my sentence. No yelling or slander was used on my part, but yet I was still treated with unprovoked rudeness.

I CANNOT EXPLAIN WHY THE WAITRESS WAS SO HOSTILE TO MY SISTER,...

We ordered El Tapatio food for delivery. The meals were satisfactory, but, despite choosing the "direct delivery" option, they nonetheless charged over $11.00 in service fees and sent the food via Door Dash. So much for direct delivery. I should have known better when El Tapatio's web site offered no option to pay in cash.

Before I could submit the order, the web site suggested a $5.90 tip on top of those $11.00+ fees. Mind you, the food we selected totaled just $32.00. When I order from places where you pay the delivery person in cash, I tip at least $10.00. But after getting my pocket picked for more than eleven bucks in advance, I added a $3.00 tip to the tab, hoping the fellow who dropped off our El Tapatio order got a cut of those fees.

Remember: Credit card payments include a fee of up to 3.5%, which the merchant passes on to you, unless they are ethical enough to discount for payment with U.S. currency. Next time, I will find a place that lets me pay with cash. Pay cash,...

Ive ate the same dish at many places on the west coast over a 47 year span. NEVER have i had a place tell me its $3 more to have green sauce in place of red sauce when i asked if they were sure they spoke to me like I was Is appalling for asking. This was preceded With a distasteful and disgusted look when I asked to be seated where? I could watch my truck as I am moving and have a truck and trailer full of My belongings. Additionally, the reason why I i was told that I would have to pay three dollars more for green sauce is because the red sauce is pre made. First I doubt the green sauce is made per dish. Second second is the dish premade and just warmed over for order. Either way, dissatisfied. It looks I received from when I first arrived and ask to be seated were enough to make me never come back but The main hosts for manager continued snoothiness. Because of her bad day or whatever reason Yes, why I'm leaving this one...
