I have loved Flying Pie pizza since day one 30 years ago. The customer service is exemplary. When you walk into any of their locations you are always created with the warm smile and a great sense of family and community. The recipe has not changed and is consistent with each of their locations. New Seasons of what we now call budget cuts Flying Pie never seems to scrimp and they always offer you garlic or oregano on top of the pie at no extra cost. As well on this day in particular I went in for there single slice of pizza more of a lunchtime Fair which ends at 4 p.m. however I showed up at 4:15 p.m.. I guess you could say it was a complete and total non-issue for the team cashier anticipated my need without me even asking said one second I'll try to get you a slice check with the Flying Pie pizza team and they happily met my request. I ordered a simple slice with pepperoni and perhaps extra pepperoni as I am used to other retailers that barely put any on there the extra pepperoni was plentiful beyond measure the best piece of pizza I've ever had I'm so glad I went to distance I passed for other Pizza retailers on the way there and I'm glad I did as I'm sure anyone else would cluded Flying Pie pizza is a Portland staple and the best of Portland is that. They have locations in Gresham Milwaukee Central Portland I imagine a couple others that I haven't made it to on the exteriors of the Portland metro area they are the best! I would say hurry up and get there before they leave but they are not going anywhere they would never leave...

I can't speak to the authenticity or whether or not this is the best pizza available outside of that one small joint in NY. What I can speak to is the fact that this place has great pizza. I've been eating at Flying Pie since I was a little kid attending soccer team parties, and not only does the pizza continue to transport me back to those days, it hits a number of stops along the way. Flying Pie is a bit of throw back to old style family pizza restaurants, so you won't get pizza on your table in five minutes. What you will get is time to drink a beer, time to chat with friends, time to enjoy the history on the walls, the ceiling, and in every corner of the building. You will get a staff who knows their pizza and their neighborhood, and who makes each pizza by hand, by order. When your pizza does come up, be ready to dig into huge slices piled up to the breaking point. Everything tastes great, the atmosphere is easygoing and classic. Simply put, this isn't New York, or Chicago, or anywhere else. It's just not trying to be. But it is Portland, and maybe we all need to get...
