Wonderful staff and fantastic food! Definitely a great place for happy hour, but also worth a visit any time.
I'm a sucker for anything fried, and if you are too, try the crab rangoon. Unlike the heavy, impossible-to-take-a-bite-out-of buffet-style rangoons, these are crisp and light phyllo dough-like fold overs with the perfect amount of creamy, garlic-y crab filling. We initially only visited Ginza for a hot pot, my boyfriend and I couldn't resist the happy hour sushi. To our surprise the mango-avocado roll was a favorite. The yellow-fin, spicy salmon, and smoked salmon rolls are to die for too. The ratio of rice to fish was absolutely perfect.
We ordered a spicy hot pot -- it was a phenomenal experience. It is a lot of prep work to make hot pots at home, so it was a pleasant surprise to find it available in a restaurant (it is impossible to find a restaurant back home that has traditional-style hot pots). The amount of protein, vegetables, and noodles provided for twenty-five dollars is extremely generous and high quality.
Oh, and the Vietnamese coffee was great. Despite being accustomed to being served a miniature metal coffee filter over a short glass for this drink, the coffee was served "brewed" and mixed in darling novelty sushi themed cups. Unlike all of my previous Vietnamese coffee purchases and homemade attempts, Ginza Town's serving of the drink was light, extremely multi-dimensional in flavor with the perfect amount of sweetness. Definitely a must-try!
We actually went back for supper the evening before flying back to Minneapolis, MN. Needless to say, Ginza Town will forever be on my list of restaurants to visit while...
Read moreYummy food and huge portions. It was more expensive than I expected, but once I saw everything it included, I understood why the prices were above average. Go during lunchtime on weekdays to get the best sushi prices. The whole family was at the restaurant while we were there. Had a little boy singing the whole time, which was cute to me, and kept my daughter entertained, but if you wanted a quiet date night, maybe that wouldn't be good. Pictures attatched are the Chicken curry and Chicken noodles. The curry meal was enough fir two and came with miso soup, salad, rice, curry, and breaded fried chicken. Their curry was very traditional Japanese, meaning more sweet and veggie based than spicy. I would have liked there to be bigger chunks in it. Seemed like the veggies were mimved. Bathrooms weren't great. Not toddler or accessibility...
Read moreThe sushi must be great because the house pho is an abject failure. Full disclosure, I'm a pho snob; I've had it in pretty much every Vietnamese place in town and spent 2 weeks in Vietnam. Not all bad, the broth is flavorful and there's an adequate amount of meat for the portion size. The bowl is small for the price (one should be able to bathe a small child in a pho bowl after finishing their meal), the dried out wedge of lime could only surrender 6 drops (yes, I counted), small containers with a meager tablespoon each of sriracha and hoisan sauce, and worst of all - noodles that are much thinner (think ramen-sized) than standard pho noodles and so went instantly soggy. Ate the meat and a few of the disappointing noodles and was out of there, never to return. But as I said, the sushi must be great because they've been...
