In the bustling coffee scene of Portland, only a select few cafes boast the delightful addition of ube, and among them, Kalesa emerges as a clear standout with their ube-infused whipped cream coconut cold brew. What sets this beverage apart is its balanced use of ube flavoring in the whipped cream, as opposed to the addition of ube in the coffee, which tantalizes the taste buds without overwhelming them. As I indulged in this delightful work of art, I couldn't help but feel like an active participant in the beverage-making process as I stirred the velvety whipped cream into my cold brew, creating a harmonious blend of flavor. Kalesa has truly elevated the coffee game, earning my utmost admiration as a casual coffee drinker.

Wow, talk about a STRONG newcomer to the Portland cafe scene!!! I feel like it takes a lot to even make a splash in a coffee city as saturated as Portland, but Kalesa is a whole tidal wave!! Their drinks are amazing, point blank. But what really sets them apart is their originality. Like, where else you gettin ube whip on a drink??? They have delicious baked goods by some of the most talented pastry chefs in the entire Pacific Northwest, and I love the space they’ve curated. To top it all off, the staff is so friendly!!!

Kalesa was our first coffee experience in Portland back in April and I was so thankful to have crossed paths with these baristas. They were so hospitable in encouraging us to tour other Asian-American gems around the city. The drinks here are crafted with authentic Filipino and American flavours. I especially loved the Calamansi-Chamoy drink. Warmest regards to the folks at Kalesa. Thanks for making our trip so memorable 🫶.

Hello Kalesa Coffee Team,

I wanted to share some feedback about my visit today. I’m currently going through a stressful week of medical appointments at OHSU, and I was really looking forward to treating myself to a coconut cold brew with ube whip and a coconut pandan cream soda—small comforts during a tough time.

I specifically requested light ice in both drinks, as I prefer not to have them overly diluted. However, both cups were completely filled with ice, leaving only a few small sips of coffee and cream soda. What I had hoped would be a bright spot in my day ended up feeling a bit disappointing.

I completely understand that mistakes happen, especially during busy times. If there’s any way to experience these wonderful drinks as intended—with the light ice I requested—I’d really appreciate it. Your unique flavors are something I’ve been looking forward to enjoying fully during this challenging week.

Thank you for your time, and I truly appreciate the care and effort your team puts into creating such special...
