Iāve tried to type this review like five times because I truly cannot convey my disappointment, I love haunted houses, and Iāve never been so disappointed. Couldnāt see any of the sets, complete lack of moving props, the actors were barely hiding or set up, long stretches of black unpainted hallways. There clearly was some cool costumes and makeup like in the promo photos etc, and moments of detailed set at the front of the haunts, but it was all so spread out and the only thing you really noticed was the brightly lit up ceiling of the coliseum. Like I get times are tough and like Iām not expecting crazy animatronics but was it seriously just slapped together? I feel bad for the actors they could barely see, one actor ran straight into me because she could barely see. One kid just said āyou smell like reeferā like cāmon. There were very few sounds or music, no atmosphere. It totally lacked the Halloween spirit and idk I was just utterly disappointed. The vampire haunt has it moments but it was just really really really disappointing. Iām so sorry but skip this one. Portland isnāt really a haunt destination but like this was so disappointing I canāt believe I spent $60 plus like 12 bucks for such a let down for me and my partnerā¹ļø sorry yāall not trying to be mean I just have never been to a haunt so bad? It felt like the lights and props werenāt working or something and they were probably working with a really tight cast, I guess they would have more actors if they paid them. It seemed like they were working with more space than they could handle, if it had been shorter but actually themed and lit it would have been better? Why try to stretch it out into āthree hauntsā that are just mostly filler? Felt like a high school haunt or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was an okay experience. My girlfriend was the easy target, getting spooked at each and every corner. š I wasn't scared once. I could barely see the horror actors or where I was going. Visibility during the experience was darker than expected and could've been much better. I couldn't help but feel it would've been better if there was better lighting.
My last Haunted House was a few years back in Tigard and my heart was about to jump out of my chest by the end of it. The only difference between this one and one I mentioned was the visibility and lighting. Halloween attractions that are too dark in visiblity are just not scary at all.
We also didn't get spaced out enough from the people ahead of us, and so we were constantly stopping to create separation so we could experience the scares ahead without getting spoiled. Which predictably, led to gripes heard from the people behind us about them catching up to us. Eventually we bypassed the people in front due to them being so slow.
We bought the standard admission tickets which gives you access to 3 attractions. After going through one, you're funneled into the next one. It took us roughly 20mins to go through it all. By the end of it, you step out into a small vendor area.
Overall, not a great experience, but suitable in the right conditions. Hopefully next time this one improves and becomes awesome. This year there wasn't many choices in Haunted Houses for some reason. Which was a bummer. It was either this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEdit (11/3): The owner reached out to me personally and we had a one-on-one conversation about my bad experience and the side of the story with the situation that they were in. Essentially, the crew had 12 days to build the set from scratch when the previous occupants (Fright Town) had two months. On opening night, nearly half of the actors/actresses were a no-show, so it made the opening night even less enjoyable. Additionally, they were forced to open the venue on opening night, due to contractual obligations, fully aware that they weren't ready. It would have been nice to know beforehand, but it is nice to be informed of why our experience was unpleasant. As unfortunate as my situation was, along with numerous others that attended opening night, it was great that the owner reached out and was able to take the time to clear up the air. Since she was able to take care of me (and others), I will definitely be attending -- as it sounds like it is going to be more frightening than this year. Changed stars from 1-star to 3-stars.
Original (10/13): The worst haunted house I've ever been to. Period. The actors and actresses were great, but the venue is incomplete and it shows. Went opening night, but if you charge us full price ($30 each) for something that isn't even finish, and this is coming from the people working there, that is crappy business practice. And they...
