I had THE best experience at Copper Union last weekend! A close friend of mine took me for an exploratory shopping day - I've just recovered from surgery, and my body has dramatically changed, and my friend wanted me to have a no-pressure space where I could see what new things might be of interest to me. Since COVID and everything, I've mostly just dressed to hide my body and stay covered for work. I didn't feel great in my clothes anymore, and there were SO many beautiful options to choose from at C.U! I tried on a variety of dresses (including something that made me feel like a witch from Oz! Not my style, but absolutely ESQUISITE!) Claire, the owner, was there to give me helpful suggestions on sizes, styles, shapes, and more. Claire was SO sweet and thoughtful, and encouraging in the best ways! I only ended up deciding on one item to buy that day - a sweet little crop top with Lisa Congdon print. I'm super excited to get to wear it this summer! I will be telling all of my friends who wear these styles and sizes to come take a look. I love that there is a place that has locally made pieces, works with local artists, and has THE most accepting space! ALSO!! They have FANS in the changing rooms!! That is a brand new thing for me, and something they should have EVERYWHERE! If you're looking for something completely fabulous to wear - I would recommend none above Copper Union!...

What you want to wear on your body matters." My daughter left the shopping appointment GLOWING. Glowing from being treated with kindness, glowing with having gotten to pick out her own fabrics, glowing with feeling radical acceptance about her body. Could not recommend more highly- I know...
