Mangiamo! — Restaurant in Portland

I went here for my very first time the other day. I was indecisive on what I wanted to order. So I asked for suggestions from the guy taking my order (Julian), who was filling some delicious looking cannoli when I walked up. Julian was extremely helpful, offering insight without being pushy and he did it in a friendly way that didnt make me feel rushed. So I ordered the chicken parm pasta to go. It wasnt peak dinner hours so thankfully they weren't overly swamped with walk up orders. In no time my order was ready and I was walking away with a warm bag that held the most amazing smelling food of my life. I drive for a profession, so I eat and drive most of the time. Not with this. I pulled over to eat it because I felt that if I was driving while eating, I wasnt giving it the respect it deserved. It was phenomenal!! My guy has been looking for a good Italian joint on our side of town for a hot minute. I walked down to the beer porch and here it is! There are tons of vegetarian options here with a choice to add meat. I just tried the sole meatball ($3) but they sell them in larger quantities for less or you can add them to your pasta dish. I fully plan to go get meatball subs here-- I didn't want to enjoy it without my partner. The staff was tickled that I ordered just a meatball and they were swift for other orders I saw placed not just my silly one. They were actually invested in my enjoyment. My husband and I had a rare date night out with our toddler and ordered the chicken parm sub sandwhich and the chicken pasta . My husband found THREE different hairs within his sub sandwhich . The man who took our order was bald so we assume it is whomever does his food prep work . Either way , disgusting , enough to ruin both of our appetites and waste $30 we didn’t really have to spend in the first place . Thanks for nothing . Conveniently closed when I got up to go talk to them and demand a refund . Will definitely be spreading my story around town in hopes that someone else doesn’t choke on hairs while trying to enjoy a moment as well . Two thumbs down ....
