Pretty ok. I had the fried seafood combo dinner. Salad with blue cheese dressing was very good. Bread served before dinner was not warm which would have helped it out a lot and tasted salt free. Bread doesn't need a ton of salt when it's made but if it's made without you will notice.

Wife had clam chowder which was ok but underseasoned. Very very thick which some people like and some don't. It was a little thick for my taste but I probably would have been happier just getting a bowl of chowder.

Dinner came with green beans (excellent) and garlic mashed potatoes. Not great definitely needed more butter and cream, and to be served hotter, better seasoned. over bland aside from strong raw garlic flavor (which I like, just needed some help from other components).

Fried cod was good. Scallops were ok but they kind of remind me of what you get from a happy hour basket at a bar (frozen and friend). Prawns were excellent but they only give you 2. Oysters I didn't eat, I gave to my wife but she said it was good.

2 dinners, 2 baskets, one cup of clam chowder one glass white wine, one diet Coke, $81 plus tip so about $100 (ok $97). Price would have been fine if either better quality or larger portion but I felt it was middle of the road on both.

Service ok but they were busy since it was a Friday night so that probably made it slower...

I will start by saying, I was very excited to try fishwife seafood restaurant.. But with disappointment I did and it was HORRIBLE. I ordered a basket with waffle fries 2 shrimp, two small pieces of cod, 2 undercooked horrible tasting oysters, for $16.50 there wasn’t even enough to satisfy me..might I add, on line it says the same basket was 12$ and she charged me 16.50 saying that was an ā€œold menuā€ which is the one attached to this google add. Anyways, that’s not the worst of it.. I got my food and it was cold and under cooked, soggy, and made me sick.. puky sick.. when I called back the restaurant to get a refund the lady hung up on me very rudely, then called ME back and said she talked to her manager said that they would refund me my money only if I brought the food back in. At this point I had thrown it away and I explained that to her, She asked me to dig in my garbage and get it out. Annoyed, I did it anyway and brought it back along with the other order on the ticket.. They refused to refund me all of my money! Which came to a total of 31$ for two orders and the other order wasn’t even touched, because my food was undercooked I didn’t want to chance giving it to my kids. sad excuse for a restaurant and learn from me. Don’t let all these fake...

Adding to my previous review 10/15/19- Another wonderful dinner. Excellent quality food and terrific service! Much friendlier/more efficient than the downtown Portland fish houses. Our table had: Pan fried Oysters Rockfish Poached halibut Clam chowder w/bay shrimp Everything was delicious! Perfectly prepared and timed correctly so we could enjoy each course. We didn’t have room for desert, but their homemade choices looked inviting (think cobbler w/ice cream) 😊. We will most certainly be back.

Previous review 3/19 Absolutely wonderful restaurant! I had the poached halibut (1/2 portion, lunch basket, with salad). It was amazing, the texture was such that it practically melted in my mouth. There was very little seasoning, which I like.

My friend had the grilled oyster basket (with fries and slaw). She said that it was wonderful. I snuck a waffle fry from her plate, excellent.

The server was friendly and very patient (it took us awhile to decide/order). I highly recommend Fishwife.

Oh, and since other reviewers complained about price (my dish was 18.50$). I’ve paid 40$+ for similar...

I was blown away by this little neighborhood restaurant. The staff was friendly, attentive and worked as a team to seat, take orders, clear tables and bring the check. The food was quick and well-timed. The prices are the most reasonable I’ve seen in Portland for a very high quality. The building and furniture are older but clearly cared for and inviting. I cannot say enough about the food. I got the grilled steelhead. The seasoning was incredible, the fish was flaky and moist, and there was a perfect crust of flavor. The cod fish and chips were also amazing. You’d think something so common like that can only be a little different than the competition, but the fish/breading/flavor/temperature were perfection. The waffle fries were like Chik-fil-a at peak performance. I also had grilled green beans, and I dunno how they were prepared but they had such a beautiful, full flavor far past plain salted green beans. I am so excited to have found this place!

Came here with a group of work associates and everything was great. I got the Blackened Steelhead and the vegetable of the day was Brussel Sprouts. The sauce on the sprouts was great and even better when eaten together with the fish. Waitress said it was an apple cider reduction. It tasted more like a Dijon, but it was very good. Our table got fried clam strips, which were great and calamari which was very good. The side salad was perfect and they make all their dressings in-house. I got Bleu cheese dressing on my salad and it was great. This was a somewhat random restaurant selection and I couldn't have been more satisfied. I definitely would like to return to try more of the menu.

I am so grateful that this cozy little long-standing restaurant is in my neighborhood. I had driven by it a few months ago, and the windows were boarded up. My heart sunk as I thought they had closed their doors. I was happy to learn that they were replacing windows..whew! They offer a great menu of fresh seafood prepared in many different ways, from traditional fried fish, clams, and scallops to broiled, breaded, poached, and pasta dishes and salads. Don't forget to check out the daily specials! On this hot day, I indulged in a big shrimp, Louie salad with a bowl of clam- shrimp chowder. Their side salads are delicious, too. Let's keep this great place in business!
