Pok Pok is a Portland institution when it comes to Thai food, and it’s easy to see why. The restaurant serves up authentic Thai dishes with bold, vibrant flavors. The atmosphere is laid-back yet bustling, with an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs work their magic. I highly recommend trying the Thai-style chicken wings, which are crispy and bursting with flavor. The flavors are complex, combining sweet, salty, sour, and spicy elements that really pack a punch. The curry dishes are also exceptional, with a rich, velvety texture and plenty of spice. What I appreciate most about Pok Pok is its authenticity; the ingredients are fresh, and the dishes feel truly reflective of Thai cuisine. If you're a fan of bold flavors and exotic spices, Pok Pok should definitely be on your list when visiting Portland.

We stumbled upon this little restaurant after an evening of thrifting on Division. We were so delighted by the paintings and various tchotchkes around the restaurant, it felt cozy and warm. We ordered the tom kha soup and pad se ew dishes, and noticed immediately that this isn’t your cookie cutter Thai food restaurant. Everything tasted handmade, similar to visiting a family home with fresh made food. Absolutely no frills, no fuss — this is an excellent location to bring a date or bring friends to have an excellent dinner together.

We stopped in for lunch at noon on a Thursday. Hubby had the pork pineapple fried rice, and I almost ordered the tom yum soup but couldn't get past the chicken pad thai. Both dishes were delicious. The pad thai noodles were perfect, just slightly chewy. Perfect. The fried rice included the usual veggies plus small raisins (!!!) and was a beautiful golden colour. Both the pork and the chicken were flavourful and moist. So glad we stopped here, and next time I'll have the tom yum soup.

We went to Pok Pok and did not want to wait the 1.5 hours for a seat. We seen the amazing reviews for Appethaizing and decided to give it a try since the reviews were much higher than for Pok Pok. We did not shy away from the small hole in the wall feel, because sometimes those types of places have the best food. This place, however, was not one of them. The mother and daughter that own it did both seem very nice, but unfortunately that did not make up for the quality of the food. Our meal was ready in less than 5 minutes, which in itself was concerning, and it was honestly barely edible. As our one dinner here in Portland, we were very sad to waste it on this place. Dont make the same mistake...

Seeing the unassuming front and general hole in the wall aesthetic, my expectations were not that high. I was happily surprised by the quality of the food. This place is so amazing. A genuine diamond in the rough. From the kind service to the grandma emerging from the kitchen to confirm orders, I felt like I was eating a home cooked meal. This place clearly values their customers and is passionate about good food. The servings were generous, prices extremely reasonable and the place was clean, but honesty the food was just really good. I will...
