TO THE OWNER (I am giving 5 stars so you read this, and bc I don't think its fair your employee cause a bad rating)
My friend and I went to the shop around 1220pm-140pm on Tuesday 7/12. Once we entered the shop it was very obvious the female barista "helping" us didn't really care to based on the lack of speaking/greeting and the uncomfortable blank staring for close to a minute. I broke the tension said "Hi" and just started to order, the barista cut me off with extreme sarcasm and said "I have no idea what that is..." and looked at me like I was stupid for even asking. Once I was done ordering, she then proceeded to glare at my partner waiting for him to order whilst making mine (zero vocal communication) he ordered and we waited. Once our coffees were done she yelled out our order we were one of three patrons in an already uncomfortably quiet setting.. I went up grabbed the drinks said thank you, she completely ignored me like I hadn't said anything. We left and sat there stunned for moment with the whole experience but moved on with our day. I highly suggest this to be a coaching experience with your baristas. You never know what is going on in someone's life, we went there to try something new and have fun with the day. Left feeling disrespected, disappointed and confused as to what we did to deserve the interaction we received. I wish we could have enjoyed the spot since we are regulars to the area, an old friend had highly recommended it and I was excited to try the special coffee that made them so happy. (There were too employees working, the dark haired girl with tattoos is the one this experience happened with)
Hope this finds the...
Read moreAfter with sometime off I'm back on my coffee tour of Portland. This morning I found myself at the coffee place called Never Coffee @neverlab on Belmont. Check out the picture with the reader board with the different drinks in color letters. I was informed these were their signature drinks. I was recommended the Oregon or the Rich Kid but I went with a Hug. The Hug is a spicy latte with chocolate and chiles. It lives up to it's name. Each sip gave me a hug. The #latte had balance to the point of being able to taste the chocolate and the chili at the same time and neither were overpowering. I learned something new today also Never Coffee roast their own beans and they've been open for 2 years. The #barista answer the question of the day: "What's your favorite drink to make"? His answer was the #cappuccino . I love the way he described how he puts a cappuccino together you could tell he's a true Barista artist.. I will need to stop by again to try their other signature drinks at another time. #Coffee #barista #Baristalife #coffeelife #coffeelover #coffeeporn #latte #coffeegeek #coffeeforever...
Read moreI’ve given up hope on friendly customer service here, but have given them 4-5 tries due to their tasty lattes. Of note is being yelled at on my first visit due to not seeing the sign indicating “one customer inside at a time.” I respect the rule, but not being rude to an excited first-time customer who didn’t see your sign.
Today, I drove out of my way with my newborn in the car to get a latte, only to see the barista locking the door to sit outside and eat lunch while several people walked up to the door and left without coffee (including me, who drove from Vancouver). I totally understand everyone needs a break, but it would be kind to designate when the shop is closed for lunch on Google maps or Never website, or have another employee cover so we don’t waste our time. Just one suggestion that would make it more likely for me to ever go back here as I’ve given it several tries and am usually disappointed.
Update: I must say I did visit once more recently and the same barista was much...
