This place is a joke. They charge way too much for average food, at best. I had their hamburger today. I ordered it medium rare and it came out medium well. The meat was tasteless and full of gristle and it was very sloppily prepared. It had large chunks of avocado, a very thin slice of tomato and a sloppy mess of grilled onions. I could barely stand to eat it. Add to that the fact that it costs almost $20 and their fries are battered and meh.
Some people may like their food. I have actually had better meals there, but I have never been impressed with the service or the food. Especially for the price.
Also, I asked for ketchup and when they handed me a bottle I asked them if they re-fill the bottles (which is illegal) they said they do. I asked if they had an unopened one and the manager grabbed me one. I thanked him and then asked if they sterilize the bottles before refilling and he rudely just said "I gave you a new one and walked away".
If I had been by myself and not trying to celebrate a birthday for someone else, I would have sent the food back and also had a word with the manager about his attitude. As it was, I left feeling like I should have gone to MCDonalds. At least there you know you are getting a sub-par burger, but sadly, I am sure it would have tasted better and cost a third of what I paid.
I know this is a bit of a rant, but I am sick of restaurants that act like they are something they are not and charge twice what their food should cost. I will not be going back unless I am dragged there by someone who likes it.
My advice is, do not waste your time or your money. If we do not demand a higher standard, we will never have it. Portland has better food in food carts than the average restaurants. Sad but true.
And all you people who gave them 4 and 5 stars, what are you thinking? You need to travel a bit more and experience the excellent quality of food offered by restaurants that care and actually know how to treat a customer. Stop pandering and giving 4 and 5 stars to places that should be getting 1 or 2 stars.
So many people with taste say the same thing about the reviews most people give. How many times have you read someone's review that said, "I can't believe that the reviews were so positive"?
Get a clue please and start holding people and their businesses to account. Not everyone can be great and, unfortunately, most can't even manage good. Most restaurants deserve a participation ribbon at best,...
Read moreI went to this restaurant today with my 2 year old son, and with my brother who came from Canada to visit. When I first walked in to buy pastries, a worker was helping me, but the manager rudely jumped in front of him and excused him. He ordered the worker to go back to the kitchen because he would be helping me. He brought us the pastries, and was starting to write our orders. The high chairs were extremely small and uncomfortable so while I was ordering my food, my baby walled towards the back of the restaurant near the kitchen. He did not enter the kitchen, but instead just stood outside of it, so I quickly ran and got him. Upon my return, the manager immediately required us to leave. He said I had to leave because my baby was disturbing the customers even though he was out of his chair just once. He said he had the right to refuse service because he was the manager, but we didn’t give him an adequate reason to send us away. He had no reason unless the ultimate fact is he’s a racist person. There were numerous customers (all white) that could testify on my behalf. My brother was very upset to see that I live in a country with racist people like him. I was embarrassed to have my brother witness this. I did not show any signs of bad behavior, and did not expect this type of racism in the 20th century. He should be trained better because I, too, run a business. I have been running my business for 15 years. He should be trained to treat customers based on the color of their skin. I know how to treat each customer with the dignity and respect they rightly deserve. He has ruined my day, and has viciously hurt my feelings as well as...
Read moreI wanna clarify, our server was not good at all and deserved one Star. She seemed like an angry Southern grandmother serving grandkids she didn’t like. 🥴 However, there was another lady on the floor that continuously came by checking on us, refilling our coffee, refilling our water and asking how everything was going… She was amazing and deserved five stars. other than that, the menu was different than most breakfast places that we’ve gone so that was awesome. We love trying different things and the food was pretty good. The regular cup of coffee was more expensive than I’ve seen at most restaurants but the mocha was priced just right and pretty delicious. The croissant at the beginning of the meal was absolutely amazing and so tasty perfectly cooked so delicious. The pastries that we took home with us at the end of our visit were pretty expensive but this is a small place. I’m not sure if it’s a chain or notso that could be the reason for the exacerbated price. The black beauty cake was the best so delicious. The chocolate croissant had barely any chocolate so that was disappointing for the price and the Miriam Berry cheese croissant did not have the glaze topping that most French restaurants seem to have so that was a bit of a letdown as the flavor was not as good as it could have been. However, we will not let these few setbacks prevent us from trying this place once again in the spring so we could dine outside, which looks very inviting and perhaps pet-friendly. So I will update my review if I need to the next time I’m...
