UPDATE---MGMT- if you had reviewed the footage you would have seen the bartender NEVER spoke with me (during the visit that my first review was about). She spoke with my neighbor. Its really bad form to lie. My second visit was even worse. You really need to educate your employees. "Izzy" demanded my "service dog paperwork", which actually isnt a thing. She said she has seen this before. If she has ever seen any "paperwork" that states/certifies/etc that an animal is a service dog, then she is truly uneducated about the ADA and service animals. Businesses are allowed to ask TWO questions; is the animal a service animal and what service does the animal perform; this cannot be asked in a manner that forces the person to disclose their disability (e.g. medical alert vs seizure alert dog) . I am absolutely appalled by your staff’s discrimnatory action towards me. Lets be clear- the only "paperwork" for a service dog comes from a physician/psychiatrist (Emotional suppor animals are NOT service animals) and is only required for "resonable accommodation " requests for housing or for an employer. THERE IS NO PAPERWORK FOR A SERVICE DOG THAT ANYONE HAS TO PROVIDE TO ANY OTHER BUSINESS". Your bartender is so woefully uneducated, that she just kept doubling down saying she had to see my paperwork. There is no shame in allowing another person to share their knowledge; the only shame comes from refusing to be educated. This is the 2nd time your staff has violated my rights under the ADA. It is hard enough having a disability that requires a service dog, but this type of ignorance is completely unacceptable. I would LOVE to stop by and discuss this with you in person, although I doubt anything would be different from how I have been treated the only two times I have been there Your regular, Lonny, lives in my building and has been a witness to both these occurrences. Let him know how I can contact you and I will only be too happy to do so. As a manager or owner, you need to do better
Response to Mgmt: l She never spoke with me, She spoke with someone else about my service dog. I would think your staff should be trained to actually speak with the owner. She was gesticulating enough that i finally asked if there was a problem. She didn't respond. Im most disappointed that after all that, she decided it was ok to pet my service animal. If you dont want pets in, I get it. But do not make a big deal about my service animal and then come over and pet her. Service dogs are NOT pets. Life is hard enough for those of us that medically need a service dog. If she would have asked ME about MY service dog,, I would have gladly answered her questions. I know it's hard for businesses having to deal with all the fake service dogs. They make it so much harder for businesses and those of us that have legitimate and trained service dogs. Wishing you...
Read moreThis is a bar I frequent quite often as I am a daily gambler and River is 2 blocks from my apartment downtown. I enjoy the big video poker area, the casual atmosphere, and the crowd is usually chill. There have been a few occasions of people (other customers) getting rowdy, disrespectful, loud, and/or belligerent but that can be expected when people gather together and alcohol is served. The bartenders are usually pretty attentive and when they have a bouncer/ bar back/ door man on busy nights they are great at keeping the bad seeds from disrupting other enjoying there time. I really like the Mac and cheese add chicken to it delicious and something different not on every restaurant menu. Also the onion rings are beer battered just the way I...
Read moreWe had our non profit all-staff happy hour at River Bar, and wow! The drinks were on point, the food was delicious, and the whole vibe was just perfect for kicking back with the team.
The bartenders were super friendly and fast, making sure no one had an empty glass for long. The kitchen crew, served up seriously tasty bites that disappeared fast (always a good sign!).
The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. Laid-back but fun, with plenty of space to hang out and chat. Plus, the games were such a hit! Nothing like a little friendly competition to bring everyone together.
Huge shoutout to the River Bar team for making the night so easy and fun. We're already talking about hosting our next staff event here. We can't wait...
