This is a great hotel located in a very location in downtown Portland that accessible as well as convenient for visiting the surrounding areas.
Staff are supper friendly from the moment you walk in and always cheery. They seemed very accommodating and service oriented.
Being a historical building and with it's location, rooms with a view are not really something to expect. However, the interior is very retro chic from the moment you walk in through the lobby, in the hallways, and finally the room.
The lobby and seating areas have warm darker colored furniture and artwork that really give you a mellow and relaxed feel. When walking the hallways, there are lots of vintage black and white photographs of famous people in the 70's. Once you get in the room, there is comfortable furniture and great beds in warm and inviting styles and designs that give you a chilled out feeling that lets you just settle right in.
Every part of the hotel was very well maintained, fresh, and clean. The housekeeping of the rooms is excellent. They offer you various housekeeping options for if you want prompt room refresh, minimum refresh, or no service at all.
Being an old building, the bathrooms are a bit of challenge. They are small and I mean very small. If you are a person of larger stature, you might be challenged. Also, the toilet flushing is like an explosion. You don't have to worry about any clogged toilets with how powerful the flush is. One nice thing about the older building aspect, was the solid walls made for a very quiet room
One big perk was the nightly beer tasting from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. They had excellent local brews to enjoy and you could refill if you like. We of course took advantage every day of our stay.
This was a nice hotel all around and do recommend it for those who want a nicer hotel with a hip feel...
Read moreWe booked a Premium King to celebrate our 21st Anniversary, and Hotel Manager Chris Bebo upgraded us to a Superior Corner King. Awesome!! And the room was on the top (Ninth) floor with views of our own city we had not seen before. When we arrived they comped us the wifi, and had a delicious bottle of Prosecco on ice in our room! We loved the very comfortable king bed, and there was plenty of space in the room. They literally thought of everything...if we wanted or needed it, it was there. I've read reviews that complained about the size of the bathroom...yes, it is on the small side. But it is plenty large enough for one person at a time, and has everything one might need, including spa botanicals. I loved that all of the windows (including in the bathroom) can be opened, too! The room was really quite serene...we didn't hear hardly any street noise (slept with the fan on), and never really heard any of our neighbors either. We had dinner (and breakfast) at Imperial...it was beyond delicious. The chic city industrial atmosphere and the unique menu were wonderful (not to mention, to my delight, diverse gluten free options). The entire experience was beyond wonderful. Thank you Chris Bebo, Vitaly Paley, and the entire staff of Hotel Lucia and Imperial Restaurant for a memorable Anniversary...
Read moreFirst, I have to say that the front desk staff was very friendly and the lobby is decorated really stylish, but we were disappointed with our room and the housekeeping. We stayed at Hotel Lucia for two nights and had an unpleasant stay due to the cleanliness of our hotel room.
The hotel in general has great décor in the lobby and in the hallways, but stops in the room and bathroom. We were okay with the lack of décor in our room since we weren't really there aside from when we were going to sleep... but we were not okay with the way our room was cleaned the entire stay. The first day, housekeeping made up our bed and replaced towels, but left a dirty bathrobe (that wasn't initially in the main room) on the bed in a shuffle. In addition, several empty glasses from the beer tasting in the lobby was left on the table. The next day, beds were made but several towels that were left in the bathtub to be changed were left, and no toiletries or trash replenished. This was just a bit disappointing given the type of hotel it was.
The location is central downtown but given the poor housekeeping I wouldn't plan on staying at this hotel again or recommend to...
