We went to see MC Chris August 9th 2025 at 9pm. We did get to the venue when we get there (me and my husband.) We hand the bouncer/security our IDs and he checks my husband's super fast when he gets to mine he takes a rather long time. He was a tall male around six foot, facial piercing, hat, blonde beard, mid size man. He then tells me its fake. I tell him it unfortunately isn't but I try not to be too aggressive or argumentative. My husband then hands him his ID back and ask him what the difference between the two are and what he thinks makes it fake. He shines the light through them again and then refuses to tell us why he thought it was fake just thay it was fake and he didn't believe use but we could get a ticket refund online. I try to get a refund as my partner will jot go in without me and I do not know how else to prove its valid. But they won't refund me because it wasn't an issue with the tickets just the venue. So my partner the smart man he is calls non emergency and explains the situation they said when they get a free patrol car they will send them our way. So we wait and the bouncer changes so we try again thinking maybe that bouncer just doesn't like me. The younger guy looks at our IDs and right as he is about to let us in the old bouncer comes out and tells him he cannot let us in that my ID is fake. The younger guy ask how to tell because he's never seen a fake before again the first bouncer just shines the light and says "I think its fake she can't come in but he's fine." We asked the younger guy if there was a manager above the other guy he said unfortunately no and asked if he could explain how mine is fake. He said he had no clue but he couldn't go against the other bouncer as he was above him. We explained we weren't mad with the younger bouncer we understood. We did tell the old bouncer we had called patrol to prove my ID valid. Finally the Patrol pulls up (not their fault its Saturday night I am sure they were very busy.) Then cop takes both our IDs runs a light over both and then runs them both through the system both came up valid. He then goes the the bouncer and explains my ID is indeed valid. The bouncer is SO QUITE. He simply says "stage is to the left." I give a little glare and say thank you as I snatched my ID back. Overall we missed 1hour of our concert. The concert was good. The police were so sweet. The bouncer was a total JERK! He didn't even end up scanning or looking at our tickets before he let us in. I have been to bars, dispensarys and 21+ venues before with the very same ID and NEVER had this...

i haven't had a ton of opportunities to visit the star theater--perhaps because the kinds of acts they usually pull aren't necessarily my cup of tea. that said, i recently had the opportunity to go to the star twice in the span of a month, and i just have to say that this is one of the few true venue delights in portland. why doesn't every small-medium popularity act demand to to play here? and the sheer fact that it's directly across from the frankly awful roseland theater simply emphasizes just how much better a venue it is compared to most of the similar offerings in PDX. the space itself is neat and open, with seating all along the sides. an upstairs balcony boasts a bar with couches for seating, very cool. staff is mellow and friendly. for the most part, every spot you find yourself in will give you a pretty good view of the stage unless you're ultra short. yeah, consider me a star...

The security team allowed my group to be assaulted and harassed by two individuals also attending the birthday massacre show October 14th. It was a member of our groups birthday, the security team forced us all to the back of the venue where we couldn’t see the show, they did kick out the people who hit my friend who’s birthday it was, but the security team allowed them to wait at the front entrance so they could harass us as we left the venue. my group was literally assaulted, we did not retaliate and your security team punished us and ruined the show for us. I am also reporting to the Better Business Bureau, we’ve filed police reports, we’ve done all we can to right the situation and now it’s time for star theatre to right their wrongs. We want a refund but the management has been ignoring us every time we try to contact...

The Star Theater and Starlight lounge! Been here a few times, including last night. Super awesome venue with great staff in a “classic” Portland downtown neighborhood. The front of the building is super cool and fun. You go inside and are immediately greeted by staff and a bar. Good selection of brews and cocktails awaits. The stage and sound system is nice - it’s a great place to watch shows and rad on the artist side as well. Two green rooms including one with a famous toilet at the end of a small staircase. The STARLIGHT lounge has awesome teriyaki rice bento bowls. The smell is mesmerizing and it’s hard not to order them. So good. So if you find yourself in the area - drop in! See a show coming up at the Star Theater? Snag that ticket.

We attended the Glow Job party sponsored by Sanctuary Club in Portland. The Sanctuary Club puts on Portland’s best underground social parties. The star theater has been the default location for several years now and it is an extremely cool and unique venue for parties. FAQs you need to know about Star Theater: it’s difficult to get around in a large crowd, lacking high volume bathroom facilities for large crowds, hard to get a drink unless the outdoor bar is open, they have a great fire pit. The staff is helpful and nice, they have coat check. I’d give 5 stars if it weren’t for the difficulty’s moving through the crowd and going to the bathroom during a large event.
