This was an awful experience from start to finish. The table we sat at was small and the seats were hard and uncomfortable. The menu was a cheap piece of paper without any pictures. For what this place is charging you would think they could afford a decent menu. Even Denny's has a menu with pictures. The food was lackluster and tasteless. One of our party got the fish tacos and the breading had zero flavor to it. NOTHING!! It seemed like a joke. The taco was a pile of cabbage with a single piece of tasteless fish. No pizzazz at all. My son got the oysters and once again, tasteless. It almost seemed like they ran out or seasoning and just plain breaded the food. The mashed potatoes were the only thing with any type of taste to it which would have been a win only there were so many hard chunks of un-mashed potato it felt like there was no effort put into making the food. And there was no gravy.......none! Maybe I am old fashioned but who serves mashed potatoes without some sort of gravy? The parking lot was a joke with zero attempt at making the available area functional. I would strongly suggest avioding this place. Not once while we were there did any of the staff make me or my family feel like we were welcome or show any type of spunk. Just drones doing their job. Our waitress did not write down our order and guess what? She had to come back to double check on what we had asked for. Not a good look. Write it down the first time and there would be no need to come back for clarification. And when she came to clear our plates and most of the food was still there were we asked why we did not eat it? Not a peep. No 'Was everything to your liking?' , no 'Did that plate not satisfy?' no 'Was there something wrong with that plate?' NOTHING!! Maybe they are just used to people not eating what they serve. It was a waste. When I made the reservations I left special instructions saying that we were coming here for my sons 21st birthday. Guess the special instructions section was just there to take up space. Not a single word about celebrating a birthday at this place. This was the worst dining experience I have had. To anyone that is thinking of going here don't waste your time or money. You will get more flavor and better service at Long...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a poor experience over a year ago at this restaurant. I vowed never to go back. I was asked to go to lunch with a group of 10 so I decided to give Seasons & Regions another try.
As we were seated, the server informed us, in a terribly condescending way, that there will be an 18% gratuity added as a new policy. As a former food server for 15 years, I understand, but when itās presented the way it was presented, I felt trapped. I mentioned to a fellow diner at our table that I didnāt like being forced to give a tip because of a policy, the server abruptly said " And I like to pay my power bill" I was appalled. At that point, I decided I wasnāt going to eat there. Because I was invited, I ordered Iced Tea.
The server continued to be condescending to our entire group by my observation as a former food server. Such things like refills and giving the correct meal to the correct customer seemed to be a challenge for this server. Everyone ate their meals and we visited.
Everyone finished their meals and as we waited for our bills to be delivered, I realized I had been there for over an hour and needed to get going. Since our bills werenāt delivered, I excused myself from the group, asked a staff person standing at what looked like a cash register by the exit how much ice tea was, he said 2.50. I gave him that amount and left. As I was leaving a man came out and said" excuse me" and showed me a bill, again which I never received at the table, I said I gave the money to that guy at the door, he said "what guy" I said "the employee at the door, and I gave him the 2.50" the man said, "thereās' an 18% gratuity owed" I gave him 50 more cents and left.
I will NEVER go back to this place and I WILL tell EVERYONE I know about my experience.
If a place of business, especially a restaurant, allows their staff to treat paying customers in a condescending way, then EXPECTS a "tip" (defined as To Insure Prompt service) it wonāt be long before karma gets the best of them.
For the record, I always tip more than 18% to any service person including my Barber because I know the service industry doesnt pay a whole lot, I spent 20 years in it. BUT, I will be damned if Iām gonna sit quietly by after this experience as that would be saying how I was treated is okay,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe got take out for dinner this time, yes, but we've eaten here at all times, Brunch, lunch and dinner, Even late night drinks years ago when they were open longer hours. Food is served in many areas of the restaurant, delivered and picked-up. They're AMAZING! It's one place the entire family can get something and be REALLY happy. They have a cheap eats menu if your on a budget, but still want to get an excellent four star meal. It's really one of the best places that SW Portland has to offer, by far. If you're disappointed something went wrong, it's just beyond rare. I've only had one complaint and that was recently with a pickup order. The portions seemed smaller due to the new take out boxes they used. That's the only time I can recall making a negative comment in the 12-13 years? or so we've been going here. It's a spot that deserves a review like this, but I'm tempted not to share it just so they stay the way they are. But, they're great and deserve the praise. I will say, you can bring kids, but in my opinion it's more for adults unless it's earlier in the day. The chef is famous. The drinks are fancy. There is a sunny window room for larger parties brunch that's really nice and open. I am a pesco-pollo vegetarian sometimes. And they have so much for me to choose from it's heaven. Yet my youngest who is more of a cheeseburger & fries kid can be just as happy as the rest of us dining on something we crave for weeks before we indulge here again. The gem on their menu that dazzles most people is their fried chicken dinner with potatoes peas carrots and gravy. I mean wow. You need to try it at least once. But they're especially known for their amazing culinary use of fish, seafood and the wide diversity of their menu. Which, so far we've found nothing to complain to...
