Red Square Cafe — Restaurant in Portland

The first time I went into this cafe I fell IN LOVE! The barista was so nice and made one of the best breakfast sandwiches (spicy Ivan) I’ve had in quite some time. Go get one. It won’t disappoint.

I really wish I could give this place five stars however after my first visit, the same barista (Reno) wasn’t as inviting and actually rather rude almost every time I visited after that first time. The last two times I ordered a coffee, I had to choke down as much as I could because I spent over $6 for it and really needed the caffeine. I ended up tossing 3/4 of the coffee away both times. The vanilla latte was scorching hot, tasted watered down and didn’t taste like vanilla at all. Not only was the coffee terrible but he snapped at me when I didn’t communicate my order fast enough for his liking.

I won’t be returning on the days he’s working. Please train your barista on how to properly make a latte. I don’t like throwing money down the drain and I assume others don’t either. A refresher on good customer service wouldn’t hurt either.

I’ll still keep telling everyone I know to come by this cafe but I’ll make sure they know to go on Thursdays when the nice barista with coffee skills and awesome customer...

Ordered a bagel with swiss and turkey...7.00!!! Didn't even order cream cheese, mayo or Vegies!!! Got my food and walked back to my office.... Later when I came back because my bagel was actually wheat toast (which could not be eaten.... Dry toast!) I inquired Why I just paid 7.00 for this bagel...he stated I am trying to figure that out. I'm so thankful in many levels Red Square is in my hood! They have drinks, bagels, baked gods and sandwiches, as well as coffee drinks. Working from home, the vibe at Red Square and owner are always a welcome site and a perfect escape and break from home and work. It's the small things that count and make the difference. The artwork, the music, the special little touch and thought which goes into the making of the sandwiches. Great vibe, great break, and much needed drinks and snacks. Friendly staff always!
