Sweet Basil catered our wedding reception for 150 people in Northeast Portland. Boos (the one in charge of catering) was absolutely amazing. We paid for him to drop off the food (4 dishes), set up a buffet line, leave, and return to pick up the warmers. The price was very reasonable and so we went for it.

He did far more than what we expected given what we were paying for. First, he set up the food, saw that there was a significant line, and stayed and ran the buffet line with nearly full service for nearly an hour which then allowed the rest of the buffet to go smoothly for the following 2 hours when he was not there. It was very obvious that Boos cared that our event went well with as little stress as possible. In the planning phase he provided good suggestions of food, made dishes that we liked, but was able to alter their spiciness to appeal to a large group who don’t handle hot food too well. It was very efficient and helpful. During the execution of the event, he arrived on time, set the buffet line up very quickly and was very helpful in running it. He arrived on time for clean up and left things very tidy for us. The quality of the food was excellent – just as good as served in the restaurant.

Been here several times, and it's been good until my last visit. The waitress who took my order did not write it down. Granted, my order wasn't easy.. I ordered the Sweet and Sour rice, with extra pineapple, extra tomato, no cucumber, medium spicy, and a thai iced tea. I asked if she would remember all that, she assured me she got it. Welp, I literally got the opposite of that. There was little pineapple, zero tomatoes, cucumbers still on it, zero spicy, and forgot my drink. I brought it to her attention and she though I had no pineapples and no tomatoes. She got me some extra pineapples in a side dish, but I still had no tomatoes and it still had cucumbers. And still no drink. It still tasted okay and all, but man, I was really looking forward to my favorite dish. The person who was with was with me, his order was correct and he loved it. However my experience was sub par. Thankfully she didn't charge for the drink. I personally don't care if I go there again. If the person I go with insists on it, I will make them write it down, or I'll...

I’ve eaten in the restaurant a few times and have had a good experience. But take out is a whole other story. They have completely messed up my order two times in a row. First time, about a month ago, I asked for a no meat fried rice with tofu, I got home and it had chicken and shrimp :( I couldn’t go back so I called and asked for a refund. They said the owner would call me for that. No call. I called next week and they said it should have been refunded. Checked, nothing. Called two days later and they said it should be up now, hung up and found nothing. I gave up at that point. So a month later gave them another shot. Ordered online, got there and they never received the order. They made it very fast for me, I ordered pineapple tofu fried rice, same as last time. Was going to check it there but they pointed at the receipt saying it was tofu, no meat fried rice. I get home and NO tofu:( just extra pineapple:(( so all I had was a way too sweet rice dish because of all the pineapple plus raisins. Hard to eat. I’d love a refund this...
