The food was excellent, but the plating could have been somewhat more attractive. The the servers were inept and immature. There was possibly a problem in the kitchen too. Our server was very pleasant but could not get anything right she made everything okay in the long run. But one error is understandable. 3 errors when they're only 3 items and beverages ordered is not acceptable. And why a table that was ceded after us and their order went in after us had all of their food served a long time before hours makes me wonder what exactly was going on. I think that 35 minutes from the time an order is placed until the food arrives at the table is unacceptable. It is clear that they had been somewhat busier before we arrived at 5:45. But a half hour later the place was not busy. Maybe it's the kitchen, but it is also most decidedly immature and inept servers, no matter how pleasant they are. I always worry when as in our visit, a server comes up with a starter course to your table that is not what you ordered and then blankly stares off into space wondering what to do with this order of food. Do they not have numbers on the tables and...
Read moreThai Time, a recent addition to Portland’s southwest quadrant of restaurants situates itself on the corner of Morrison and 11th. As its name suggests, the place serves indistinguishably authentic Thai food to the untrained palette: from spring rolls to the timeless pad Thai, Thai Time serves a cultural experience that isn’t by any means a standout spot. I’ve had Thai food that tastes identical to the dish I had today. The atmosphere during lunch hour is relaxed and quiet, except for the faint yelling of the cooks that can be heard noticeably from the dining floor. Employees were friendly, making sure to wipe our table down before we sat. My dish, the pad Thai, was brought early enough to where my friend and I had to have the “go ahead and start without me” conversation. While it did not hinder our experience much, I personally would’ve preferred a double delivery of both our dishes at the same time. Our check was brought early for our convenience. Overall, if you’re looking for a quick bite and haven’t had southeast Asian food in a while, be sure to “make time”...
Read moreMy partner and I had lunch here today and were really impressed. The restaurant is very vegan friendly and the food is really tasty. We started off with the fresh rolls and peanut sauce. The rolls were bland and felt like I was eating lettuce wrapped in rice paper - it lacked any real substance or flavor. The peanut sauce, however, was the best I've ever had. It was bursting with flavor and ended with a delicious peanut finish. It took all my strength to not make out with the small serving bowl that held that divine sauce.
For our entrees I ordered the drunken noodles with tofu - heat 6 - and my partner order the yellow curry with veggies - heat 2. The yellow curry was very tasty and although a tad bit watery brought forth deep flavors. The drunken noodles weren't as tasty as the curry but were still very good. Once I added the peanut sauce to the noodles though they became superb.
This is a very nice that place that serves tasty food, provides a free soup buffet, and has a...
