Wendy's is a successful global chain, so I feel no remorse for what I am about to say in this review as I will not hold back any detail nor sugar coat any gripe. My experience was so horrendous I don't know if I'll go to a Wendy's again because the association to the experience will most likely trigger unbridled rage into every bit of my being. I have no comments on the food, as you'll soon read I wasn't able to receive my food.
It's just before 1:30 AM, I just got off an 8.5 hour shift with no break or room to snack. So, before my drive home I decide to place an order on the Wendy's app (starving). My order goes through and I head there. It takes me 10 minutes to arrive, I get to the drive-thru, the app registers that I've arrived and says that my food was being made. However, the line was long and moving slow. Regardless, I've paid, the foods being made, should be no problem. I got to the speaker right at 2:00 just to confirm with the person that I'm here to pick up an order and all I hear back is "WE'RE CLOSED". Still, orders already way ahead of schedule, I can just pick it up right...Apparently, wrong. I get to the window and say "I have an order for pick-up" - they completely ignore me (oh and I can visibly see my exact drink is near the drink machine and my food was sitting under the warmer). I say again "I'm here to pick up my food - ignored. I see them closing, walking around the store, smirking at me and shooing me away like I'm some drifter begging for fries off the ground. Finally, a response, the larger fellow with a beard comes up to the window, snaps at me and says "we're closed" I say, "I paid way ahead of time, my food is right there" - I'm cut off as he say's "WE'RE CLOSED". His only rebuttal other than being completely terrible to me was "The app doesn't accept orders after 1:30 and it shouldn't go through". What can I even do at this point? Nothing. I drive off, get a refund and write to the customer service chat box on the app. Which it states - "There is no cut off time for placing orders". So not only was the entire staff ruthlessly unkind and inconsiderate, they straight up LIED to my face to get out of simply handing me my order.
I pride myself on being kind, I have worked both in fast food, and waiting tables. What I went through and witnessed last night is nothing short of nasty, spiteful inhuman treatment toward a patient, paying customer. This was a team effort as well, it only took one person with a sliver of compassion and effort to grab my prepared food, walk over to the window and simply hand it to me. So with that said, I didn't get names but I have the date and description of the people working. I believe this is justified, despite my unconditional support of people working within customer service. This happened 4/27/24 at 2:00 AM. Like I mentioned, one was a larger man with a beard, another a Mexican lady, and a very tall older man. This is the Wendy's on Barbur Blvd in Portland. Then we tried to order the party pack off the menu which was shown on the menu and they said they could not do it , she said she couldn't see it on the screen And her manager was on break. I then asked if there's anyone nearby that she can ask for help. She told me no nobody. Then she told me that it says we can order it online and recommended that we parked to order online. I annoyingly parked and looked to the window only to see her and 5 others in store. I parked and tried to order online which it then said we're not allowed to order the family pack online due to its size. I then went inside to try and order in person and to show the manager the error the app gave me and they said the menus have been updated (they haven't in store or drive thru) and we can no longer see the options in system. He refused to honor and appropriate pricing and referred us to use the next closest deal for "two 10p for $7 and get two packs for $14" which would be 10 less nuggets for the same price of the party pack. Read moreI have left really good reviews on this Wendy's. But as of recently the food has gone to lesser quality and food is barely warm. See this Wendy's had a guy with a pony tail, a younger man and an older gentleman who were producing top quality hot food consistently every day and the lines showed they had it going on. Recently these three guys are no where to be found and the food is not hot anymore . My best advice to the owner is hire those 3 back on and keep the lines long, less customers is not a good thing those three had your back and cared about the food that left your restaurant. I would suggest you get them back before you loose the customers that they had consistently coming in. I'm sure you can see the number they produced compared to these new employess . The facts should prove to you just what I'm saying. I hope you get them back. You lost the people who cared about your business and had your back 150% these new people don't have your best interest and the empty line is proof of just that!!
