Woodstock Wine & Deli Co — Restaurant in Portland

Met some friends after work before we headed off for an event. It's easy to find and has parking.

I was surprised by the size. Huge space with soaring ceilings, food and beverage counters and cases around the sides and in back and a center quad counter (which was being used for wine tasting) and some tables up front by the large windows.

Amazing selection of wines! Wish I'd had time to stay for the tasting! They discount the ones everyone likes best! Is there a better way to try new ones and get what you like for less?

The draft beer selection is limited but there's a case of local talent and imported bottles...mostly IPA's (not my fave but there were dozens to choose from).

There's also a good selection of coffees, tea, soda and juices and some fine looking baked goods.

Atmosphere was casual and spread out, good for groups and pairs to sit and converse.

You order at the different counters, then pay and sit down or wait for Togo. I had a sandwich that was well made to my specs by a very pleasant woman with very fresh ingredients and brought to our table.

Mea culpa.... I've been coming here for years, and somehow have never written a review. Woodstock Wine and Deli is an exemplary neighborhood place, with the food and wine promised by the name, as well as being a great spot for live music, and sitting and enjoying their products. There is a performance space at the front, a wine counter (for by-the-glass purchases) on the wall to the left, and the deli counter at the back of the store. The center and the right wall are devoted to shelves and shelves of bottles. A good order of events is to stake out a place to sit, then go to the deli window and make a food order, and, finally, visit the wine counter go find your beverages. You can then sit down with your wine and wait for the freshly made sandwiches to be brought to your table. One thing I have not found is complete information online about music performances. Their FB page has some tasting and music events listed, but I've been to others that I've only known about by word of mouth. I'd advise dropping by, shopping, and checking out postings in the store for upcoming...

Great Deli with professional staff who are friendly and helpful. Sandwiches and salads are very nice quality and the wines are oh, so plentiful and mocrobrews are also available. Happy hour starts at five. Heather rocks!!! This building used to be an old Rexall Drug store when I moved into the neighborhood in 1974.
