⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Funny story, I called the restaurant to find out if the chef was Jamaican, when it was confirmed that a Jamaican was in the kitchen we knew the food was going to be good. What we didn't know was how good the food would be. We ordered the curry goat with rice and peas and fried plantains. We must have checked the food delivery app 100 times anticipating its arrival. WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rice and Peas was fresh and vibrant in color. You could taste the coconut milk, scallions, thyme and pimento, all seasonings in every fork full. Reminded us if our aunty or uncles cooking in the country back home. The goat was tender and seasoned to the bone, you hear me!!! SEASONED TO THE BONE!!!!!!! Plantains are always a hit or miss but not the ones Yaad Style makes. They were not soaked in oil and they were cooked perfectly!! The fruit punch drink is to die for. It was homemade so you know it was good. We wished we ordered more. WE ATE AND LEFT NO CRUMBS!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERYTHING WAS DEVOURED!!!!!!!🤣😁🤤🤤 Hands up and down this is the best Jamaican food we have from a local restaurant!!!! Yaad Style Jamaica Cuisine serves the BEST Authentic Jamaican Food in the entire Pacific North West!!!!! If you are traveling and need a good meal this is the place!!. If you live in the area, then you already know this is the place!!!!!! If you have always wanted to try Jamaican food and didn't know where to go THIS IS THE PLACE!!!!!!!! Thank-you for the experience Yaad Style. Nuff respek. Wi soon pass tru agen....
Read moreI keep coming back over and over again because Portland has super limited Jamaican food. I want to support this business but it is today, the last time I go. I won't even comment about the lack of courtesy and kindness when ordering either in person or over the phone. But, today I was charged a total of $71. It was about 2:00 p.m. I ordered an oxtail meal (it was NOT good today, sadly). It's a hit or miss EVERYTIME I go. Anyway, I ordered fried chicken wings, first and only time--- which I thought would be a WHOLE wing and not drumettes (which are super inexpensive, its mini chicken, NOT wings..or special). GUESS WHAT? I found out only when I got home and opened the box, it was 9 little drumettes; this was ACTUALLY $17. I wish I were joking. I ordered a slice of sweet potato bread, and 2 small bottles of Ting soda. Bill: oxtails-- online is $37 but charged $39 Sweet potato pudding- $8 9 mini drumettes- $17 😡 Ordered 2 Ting soda- $5.50 each (🤯really? terrific?, regardless, my 2 drinks should have been $11, and not only $5.50. You can do the math that it was not $71. My bill was shady..and in the past, it been at times, as well. Made up calculations. But, I want to keep them here. Many small black owned restaurants have come and gone in my 20+ years here...I kept coming back, just rolled my eyes silently. More broadly than the cost of lunch, It was off in all the ways, and not my first time experiencing 🙃 I guess I'll just have to make my own Jamaican food. Damn it Portland. I support mostly small businesses and this is disappointing for my tummy + my purse for the last time. I hesitantly...
Read moreFOOD: It was amazing. To begin, I visited Jamaica in 2022, and I know I flew out of there 10lbs heavier because my seat was tighter on that return flight home, lol!! So, in search of that experience once again landed me at Yaad. My food came out, and I proceeded to take my first bite of jerk chicken with beans and rice...and all I can say is that it did not disappoint. It made me smile, and i said, "Oh yea, this is it right here." They nailed it!!
SERVICE: From the folks at checkout registers, cab drivers, baggage claim attendants, hotel employees, restaurant workers and all of the above.......it felt like everyone I met on my trip to Jamaica deserved $100 tips/ donations. When I walked in Yaad, the young brother failed to provide any hospitality towards me. He was flat the entire time. This was my first time in there, I was undecided and had many questions... Each inquiry was met with a short reply, and I felt like I needed to hurry up with my order. I still gave a $5 tip. As I waited on my order, an older (and perhaps) " regular" customer gets a projected "welcome, may I take your order?" which was a noticeable shift from how I was greeted. Was I discriminated against? Don't know, but it's how I felt in that experience.
ATMOSPHERE: Very cozy and comfortable. Floors, scents, tables..... everything looked presentable and welcoming. Parking is a little better than terrible. I was blocked in by other customers as their parking appeared to be more like an ally onside the building.
I will...
