I’ve debated whether or not I should write this review. But when a company puts PROFIT OVER GENUINE CARE for their customers, I knew I had to put this out there.
We aren’t seasonal boba tea drinkers, we’ve been loyal customers to Yoonique for over a year now. My husband discovered this place on his late drive home from work. He works 12 hour shifts, while I’m at home with our baby and toddler, and with the pandemic, looking forward to this drink was one of the many ways we made it through the tough times. One day 2020 pandemic summer, he brought home their most popular drink: Classic Ceylon Milk tea with cake cream and boba. I fell in love with it immediately. Rain or shine he’d bring this same drink home at least 2x a month since last June. I’ve had this particular drink at least 24 times. My husband ordered it so much that as soon as he walked in the door they’d start making this particular drink. We were regulars. Every time it was consistently good, tasted the same, up until tonight.
I took my sip and tasted COFFEE GROUNDS mixed in with the milk tea and boba and knew this was made incorrectly. Bothered by it I had my husband sip and he agreed they were coffee grounds. He called in, explaining that we were regulars, and that the drink that was made tonight had coffee grounds. Instead of owning up to the mistake the manager said that it’s normal to have “tea grounds and said it’s okay to drink” and hung up with! Who does that?! My husband called optimistically thinking because we are patrons of their business that they’d offer a replacement drink. NOPE. No replacement drink, no apologies, no accountability.
I’ve searched what Ceylon dried tea leaves looked like to see if there was any resemblance to coffee grinds but no. Ive even filtered the drink just to make sure I wasn’t going insane, and lo and behold, coffee grinds.
I’ve been hesitant to try the new boba tea places a couple blocks down on Foster but looks like Tea&Tea, RoyalTea, or DingTea will now have a new loyal customer.
SIDE NOTE: Also, not only did they include coffee grounds in my milk tea drink, but forgot include the cake cream. No swirly creamy goodness in this order...
Read moreThe place is very cute like in other pictures. I had a classic milk tea with crystal boba. Their milk tea has their unique flavor which I appreciate and the crystal bobas are yummy.
I have a few usual boba places but today I was on Foster so I thought of trying something new. The drink is adjusted to 50% ice and 50% sweetness. The price is close to other places but the portion is very upsetting. If I do not adjust the ice level, look like those ice will stack up from the bobas to the top of the cup. Then I ask if she could help getting some ice off (because I don’t want it too cold), she said then it won’t go till full. This I understand as some coffe shops also prefer that and I get it. I then asked if I could have more boba (I don’t live next door, it is always a long ride to any boba, not to mention the boba these days are more expensive than espresso drinks). it is very little boba compared to other places as its cup is so long and slim. Then she ask if I could pay extra for the boba and I said yes but she said it needs to be cash. I don’t have 1 dollar bill in my pocket so then I just left. I could just say I’ve rarely had such kind of experience in most boba shops and the toppings are usually more generous, which encourages people to go back, even when a drink is 6-7 dollars. :-/
Anyway, I get that private shops may have different business plans and this place has indeed very cute decor for its own audience, but it doesn’t seem I would go back a second time. Imagine if you take the ice out of this drink, you have 4oz of boba and another 6oz of milk tea. The drink...
Read moreWe called to try and order over the phone because it was getting close to closing time, they hung up on us. We really wanted bubble.tea so we let that one go, and proceeded to go anyways. We showed up ten minutes before they were closing. We were denied the one food dish they served because of the time. We ordered teas anyways. They got them wrong, but we noticed when we were walking out to the vehicle. They had locked the door. When we went to knock to see if they could do anything about it, or if I could even purchase another drink.? They all hid in the back... plus when they were making our teas, the worker was coughing and did not wash her hands. The teas were filled with 3/4 ice. Plus they weren't very tasty. The place is super cute too! Bummer they were rude, and the drinks were bad! We will not be going here again, I really wanted some of the Korean cheesy bread! We will be taking our business elsewhere.! Find a different bubble tea if you are reading this far! We have a business that serves food and drinks, and if customers come in 30 seconds before we close we serve them! Anything off the menu, and treat them no different and let them stay till theyre done. It's called customer service! They should change there hours if they don't like being here this late! They were rude from the get go! Don't...
