Big Backs Eatery — Restaurant in Portsmouth

I spotted this place while driving by and had to do a double take because I couldn’t believe the name was what I thought it was and sure enough, it was called BigBack Eatery. Then, I started seeing it all over social media, so I checked out their page and knew I had to give it a try. When I arrived, there was a decent line, which I won’t lie I was already irritated about. But once I saw they had another worker come from the back with a card reader to take orders, I felt at ease. I ordered the chicken and steak rice bowl and was able to add a flavor to it, so I went with garlic buffalo something different, but it sounded good at the time. I also got the steak egg rolls. I wanted to try both chicken and steak since they come in a two-pack, but unfortunately, that wasn’t an option. For my drink, I went with their blue raspberry drink. The food came out in a reasonable time, and though I got mine to-go, I never leave without tasting it first no matter where I am. When I opened my rice bowl, my first thought was, “What in the buffalo chicken dip is this?” Then I remembered I got garlic buffalo. I took a bite and was impressed! The flavor was on point, even if the presentation caught me off guard. But thinking about it, the place is called BigBack, and if I saw someone open their tray, my first reaction would probably be, “Look at this big back!” so it definitely lives up to its name. The egg rolls were just as good, packed with flavor and not dry at all. I only wish I could’ve tried the chicken version too. Now, for the blue raspberry drink it’s my favorite Kool-Aid flavor, but I think it would hit even better if it were frozen. Overall, I’ll definitely be back to try something different next time. Definitely disappointed 😔 went on Sunday and ordered the pork chop sandwich yams Mac and cheese my brother ordered the 6 piece whole wing dinner with yams Mac and cheese the young girl at the window said it didn’t come with sides even though it’s listed as a “dinner” so we paid for the sides separately my niece got the garlic parm wings with fries we spent roughly $100 the price really wasn’t the issue. My pork chop and my brother whole wings were cooked in old grease and the yams were too thick to even eat. We were told it was a 15 minute wait for the Mac and cheese and ended up waiting a hour and 20 minutes. We asked the young lady at the window what she would recommend she just looked up and said I don’t know. Let me tell you all me and my family ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE. I had family from Maryland down with me about 3 weeks ago and they talk about their experience eating here we have found our “ NEW LOVE” and that’s here at BIG BACKS! Food is absolutely phenomenal, Hospitality was outstanding! family from Maryland down has stared they can’t wait to eat here again. I MUST TELL the truth I truly enjoyed the food and they are so welcoming making sure they acknowledged each and everyone of their customers. My husband JUST call me and said hunni let’s have dinner tonight back at BIG BACKS such a grand ideal husband. I honestly enjoyed EVERYTHING that I eat off of their menu and I MEAN EVERYTHING!!
