Google reviews had this place with 500 reviews with over 4 stars. I’ve never been more embarrassed to take people to a restaurant with such terrible quality food in my life.

Food ordered: Two meat platter(beef brisket/North Carolina Pulled Pork) with hush puppies, sweet potato wedges, and mac n cheese. This is not real bbq or anything close to authentic tasting BBQ,and probably would have been more satisfied with Mission BBQ or some regular BBQ chain. The beef brisket, was chewy like a fatty piece of flank steak and the taste was like korean bulgogi. Just a wet sloppy piece of meat. The NC pulled pork, was a bit closer to bbq, but the NC sauce was sour and not really much flavor to it. -Mac n cheese was bland, and probably no better than a watery Kraft mac n cheese. The sweet potato wedges were probably the safest thing to eat there, probably with a touch of salt and cinnamon for flavor. Also had the half rack of ribs. I knew the instant I touched and felt how hot these ribs were, that they would not be what I had hoped for. I needed a metal knife to cut through the ribs and felt as if these ribs had been sitting out all day and then suddenly nuked inside of a microwave to somehow try to bring them back to life and salvage the rack. The toughest and chewiest ribs I’ve ever eaten in my life and the amount of broken shards of rib bones I had to spit out as I ate was both probably more work than I do in a day’s work at my normal job. I’m sorry in advanced since I don’t normally do these posts unless I really feel the need to save people from going to falsely rated establishments. I’m sure at some point in the lifetime of this chain of restaurants they possibly served decent BBQ, but at the moment I would never recommend anyone to go anywhere near this place.

It’s unfortunate that I have to write this bad review due to poor customer service. My sister picked up our order that was phoned in. Unfortunately, when checking the food at home I discovered that they didn’t give me the dinner I asked for. Instead they gave me a sandwich with one side. I contacted the restaurant. The person I spoke to stated she gave us what we ordered. She said she repeated the order with the sandwich side and drink as a combo and we said that it was fine, which is not true. She interjected while I was speaking initially and I informed her to not be disrespectful. I asked to speak to her manager and she said she is the manager. Wow! Then I asked to speak to her manager; she said there isn’t anyone and began stumbling over her words as I asked for the owner and GM. She said the owner never comes in there and the GM comes in on Sunday. I asked for her name and she was hesitant. She eventually said her name is Anna and then stated I could find her name on the receipt if I look. The receipt states Fayth. Go figure! I expect good customer service and professionalism. I have been a loyal customer for years. I use to eat at the location in Carlton a lot. I was so happy when they opened on in Portsmouth. I have never had a bad meal from there since they opened, until tonight. I order almost 100$ worth of food and was very disappointed. Started off with the quesadilla I ordered for my daughter. I asked for a plane one with just cheese. Nothing spicy! Told them to use just American or cheddar. They put on some kind of jalapeño cheese that burned my 9 year old mouth. I ordered a platter with 4 meats. The brisket was cut so thin and cooked or seared on a flat top or something. It was like jerky. The ribs were so fatty is was like someone took the fat cap off pork belly and stuffed rib bones in it. The pulled pork was so dry and over cooked, it looked like a pile of shredded twigs on my plate. The sausage was ok. The sides weren’t what I expected. Not as good as usual.
