Penn Station East Coast Subs — Restaurant in Portsmouth

This was our very first visit to any Penn Station location. Firstly I'm so highly impressed with absolutely every step of our visit this evening. We got there approximately 1 hour before closing. We were greeted upon our entry which is always nice :) I informed the gentleman (Which just so happened to be the store manager) that this was our first visit & he immediately went into what was one of the best, most helpful descriptions and explanations of everything that I needed to know, in order to place my order. He explained things in a manner that was very clear & easily understood. I asked to see the fries (I don't like certain types). He explained the process that they have to making & serving them. After my fiance & I placed our order there was a very little wait time before our food was brought to our table. The young lady who handled the payment transaction recommended their lemonade (which was really tasty by the way). She was very helpful & polite. I don't normally eat hot subs from any restaurant but we decided to give this a try & I'm very glad that we did. I ordered the 6" Club while my fiance had the Chicken Parmesan. We had an order of medium French Fries as well. I gave both of the employees my opinion of their service & it seemed that both were genuinely appreciative. My fiance also ordered a Ruben sub to go. Upon his second order the manager came out & gave me a FREE chocolate chip cookie to try! It's been a while since being at penn station bc the last time I wasn't really happy ab the food. I have the same outlook yet again. I don't know if it's all locations but I feel it's went down hill for sure. I use to love the subs bc they had good amount of meat and other items on them. They just don't anymore. It was tasteless and dry. The person I was with had the same exact sandwich and it looked to have a little more meat. I asked ab it but nothing was resolved other than saying it's how they are made and they just may of got more meat. Like how? Was my steak cooked with theirs and separated so i got the shorter end. That is not okay! I recall them looking better before. I also got pizza sauce and it was brought to me very cold. I just was so dissatisfied with the quality of my food. I had to tear off half my bread bc it had nothing on it to eat, not even cheese. My fries also seemed to be very over cooked, dried out. I paid so much for my meal and it was not worth it at all. Next time il go to a classy restaurant for that price. Do better. I won't be going...

Call in your order to save some time! I’m not sure if management changed a while back but all the reviews on maps/Yelp are bad so I wanted to share my many positive experiences.

I call in orders frequently so I don't have to wait. Usually, if I'm 5-10 min away by the time I get done calling and head over it's ready if not just a little wait. Compared to previous years reviews on Yelp, it seems like this place has improved a lot. Staff are usually nice when I call and pick up my orders and they have never messed it up. Inside seems clean and doesn’t smell weird.

One suggestion that I feel would go a long way is to toast the bread before putting all the ingredients or to toast it longer because usually my sub melts rather than crisps and makes it harder to eat. Regardless, there’s lots of ingredient choices and are...
