A&W Restaurant — Restaurant in Portsmouth

My family and I came this evening to have dinner. Every single meal we ordered was completely incorrect and missing items. We told the waitress about it, and she offered to correct our items. The problem was that every time we told her, it seemed as if she wasn't understanding what we were saying and what items we were actually missing/incorrect, she would repeat it back to us and every time, it was not what we were asking for and saying. She came back 3 dif. times, each time had our order incorrect. At this point it was frustrating. My husband asked for a refund for the incorrect items, offered to pay for what was corrected. (Which was 3 missing shrimp for my son's meal that she brought out after we told her the first time.) She then said she was getting her manager. As she was walking back behind the counter I heard her call my husband a Karen. "We have a Karen out here-" she said. The manager came out and offered to make us bacon, an extra 10-15 minutes of wait time. We were not just missing bacon. We were missing 3 completely different burgers, 1 did not need bacon on it. We kept trying to tell him, no, that was not correct. They refused a refund and the manager told my husband we could have "removed or eaten the bacon, for all he knew." At that point we just wanted to leave and it really upset us. They still could not repeat our order back and said they could refuse to serve us, and that we should leave. I confronted the waitress about her calling my husband a Karen, it was completely uncalled for. We could also hear them back there making "wahh, wahh" crying noises. We will not be returning, not only was this extremely embarrassing, we paid 57 dollars for dinner that we couldn't eat.. & everything they did bring us, was cold. I plan on calling corporate and reporting them. I do not recommend...

We stopped there on Friday late afternoon October 11, 2019.. Few people there, the tables were all dirty, had to ask someone to clean a table. An employee came out on the floor but she started with the other tables not the one we were standing at, then the food came. Greasy, the fish and shrimp tasted the same, the chicken was very greasy, the hush puppies the same. An employee made rounds ask how everything was, the reply was not good, complaint about it all tasting the same. Her reply was she didn't know, she doesn't work in the kitchen. For someone who works there, she should know something or get an answer for us. I would advise everyone to spend your hard earned money elsewhere. We will not...

Don't let the A&W sign fool you. This is also a Long John Silver's!

And don't let the LJS name fool you. They're better remembered for poor quality fried fish, but it seems that at least at this location the food is better. Honestly I'd take them over the "other" local fish place.

The inside was clean, and the food was well prepared; even if it did just come out of a freezer.
