Unfortunately I'm sorry to report that this one didn't fare out to well for me or my friend. We decided to give it a try since it is a new place and neither of us were impressed.
I'll elaborate on each of my ratings above:
Food: First off, this is the first Mexican restaurant that didn't seat me with some tortilla chips and salsa or picadillo. When I asked, they don't even offer those things. The main course was marginal, at best. My meal, the Red Enchiladas lacked taste and presentation and the steak in my friend's Carne Asada was very tough and hard to chew - strike 1.
Service: The place was dead when we arrived at about 11:30 on a Wednesday and didn't fill up during our 2 hours there (prime lunch hours). The place has only been open for week or two so that may be the reason. The server seemed nice, but there was a definite communication gap as we could not understand her very well due to the language barrier - strike 2.
Atmosphere: I know this place is new, but no effort was made to make the place festive like many successful Mexican restaurants that I have visited in my lifetime. The prior establishment was a 'diner style' which was still the case here and didn't even feel like a Mexican restaurant at all - strike 3.
In summary, the food was bland, the service was lacking, and the atmosphere was not what I would expect in a Mexican restaurant. Due to this, I'm sorry to say that I won't likely be going back...
Read moreMy wife and I went to the newly opened La Piñata restaurant in Post Falls. Its a breakfast restaurant (and lunch), so its not a typical American-Mexican restaurant. They don't serve tortilla chips and Salsa -- big deal.
We started off with the Molotes appetizer, its sort of a stuffed tater-tot. It has a chipotle sauce on top to add some spice. Then I had the Chorizo Español omlet, which was very flavorful. Small pieces of chorizo with lots of onions and peppers. My wife had the steak fajita omlet, the steak pieces were not over cooked. Also lots of onion, bell pepper, tomato. She enjoyed it. We both got pancakes instead of toast, which we like, and still gave us that "traditional" breakfast feel.
The server was very friendly and explained menu items. If you are looking for something different, rather than scrambled eggs or a Denver omelet,...
Read moreThis is what we’ve all been waiting for: authentic Mexican food in North Idaho. No longer do we have to say, “Well, what did you expect, it’s not like you’re in Southern California or Mexico. But it’s the best you’re gonna get here.” Nope. This place is the real deal. The horchata is delicious, made fresh in house, the chips and salsa.. well, we didn’t hold back asking for refills. 😅The salsa was 🤌🏻 And the beef chimichanga with refried beans… oh my goodness. Just so good. Take my word for it, or even better, take your family and experience it for yourself. Owned by two brothers, you can just tell they’re good people who genuinely want to make their customers happy. I can’t wait to take more people here, it lives up...
